With so many soldiers dying just because they aren't properly equipped why isn't the government held to the same standards as everyone else. I get a $5000 fine if a guy takes off his hard hat yet some of these guys can't even get flack jackets.

And, how the Bush administration is using the same lies of the 1960's administrations to escalate the Vietnam war. I think being concerned about Iran is justified, but how do we not know this is another bunch of lies by the Bush administration to invade Iran?

Two other things come to mind: The first is that I'm presuming that everyone now knows that Valerie Plame was investigating Iran and possible nukes in that country before she was outed by the Cheney regime. And, That the entire region of the mid-east is involved in Iraq. Iran is selling arms to Iraq through the black market and that it isn't necessarily through it's government.
And, second, that Saudi's are selling arms to the Sunni's in Iraq as well. Saudi ARabia and Iran hate eachother.
Now, in light of this, do you really think this entire region's problem can really be solved militarily? It seems the war has made matters100 times worse in destabilizing.

to think about the fact that Bush has sent them on a meaningless mission that doesnt really have anything to do with Americas security (in the case of Iraq) is too much to bear?

Im serious here, I just think its too hard for families to take that their relatives may have died in vain, so in turn they convince themselves this is a legitimate war.

and we are planning our Feb 2008 wedding. I am afraid to plan anything and put deposits down due to the fact that he can be deployed at any time between now and july 2008. I am panicing b/c i only have a year to plan our wedding. If he is deployed, he will not be able to come home for the wedding. I don't know what to do!! Please help! I am also wondering if anyone knows how likely it is for him to be deployed. Are his chances good? He is a light-wheeled vehicle mechanic if that helps. thanks is advance for your help.

The Army has a program referred to WOFT (Warrant Officer Flight Training), where unlike any other Warrant Officer position; you dont have to belong to the Military before starting training and its often referred to "High School to FLight School". (It all has to do w/ helicopters, not fixed-wing)

Does any other branch, or the Army, have any other programs dealing w/ piloting? Or any other program where you go in the Military right after High School and it leaves you w/ a good job within the Military and skills you could use in the civillian world? (ex. like WOFT, leaving you w/ piloting skills and a Warrant Officer position)

Any advice/help would be great.

(It doesnt have to do w/ piloting, any program that leaves you w/ good training that doesnt associate itself w/ college; right out of High School)

because they are shipping bombs to Iraq that are killing Americans. Using that logic, shouldn't the US military attack the USA because they shipped over 400,000 weapons to Iraq that ended up in the hands of the insurgents that are being used to kill Americans?

I am going to basic training not to long from now, my recruiter is on leave and I havent been able to contact him, I was wondering if anyone knows, does it matter which bank I make an account at so my earning while training can be direct deposited? I thought I heard somewhere that it should be a bank that has offices all over the nation.... is that true?

Every day you pick up a newspaper today and there is a shooting here, a killing there. More young people have lost there lives in far greater numbers than in the past. Then we have the military sending innocent boys off to war to be killed. Does the Government realize the valuable resource we have in "KILLERS" existing in our society. Does anyone agree that instead of going to prison where tax payers have to foot the bill as they (killers) lay around most of the day in the pretense of rehabilitation that we should send those persons to the war where they can put their gun loving craft to good use saving some of of innocent youth to become viable members of society? We would still be paying the taxes to support the military but at the same time giving fresh young minds a chance to build families and accentuate society.

I am not sure exactly why we are there now, sometimes I hear it is to keep America safe from the axis of evil and sometimes we are there to bring good old god given democracy to the poor people of Iraq. anyway lets say you had to decide because we wanted to save ourselves from evil and bring our values to the downtrodden sods in Iraq but it meant sending your child to the front lines to fight, would you do it?
as far as I know there are no senators or congressmen or any white house high ranking staff with their kids fighting in the Iraq war, so I am wondering if it would make a difference.
