Start with your post transition office or post library which usually has a "section".
Locate a "military job fair" if possible, look in Army Times, etc,
read the classifieds in Army Times and the other service papers if available. This will tell you who is looking.
Research "Federal Jobs", via the internet or any local office, many options for current veterans, many besides the usual:
Homeland Security, ICE, (Customs, Immigration, etc), Border Patrol, and agencies you have never heard of.
Make sure you look at all companies with "government contracts" aero-space, defense, etc. Been to Iraq?
well be sure to visit the VA, just for a "benefits check" and then
perhaps a "Vets Center" located in many major cities and some smaller, sure it is there for mostly "PTSD" but trust me, they are sharp and freiendly fellow vets, who have always good job leads!
How would I know that? Yes, did work for them and was a client.
Some agencies give priority to "recently discharged veterans" so get to the State Employment office in your state. They will have yes, many, many leads.
So being an "11-Bravo" is just what some employers want. I'd
sooner hire a immigrant than some MOS's. (Ok that as a bit cruel but us grunts have to stick together).
Also try the local VFW, DAV if you goit a Purple heart, and if you have a PH, well more doors open. Extra points for State and Fed jobs.
I could go on and on: but just have a resume developed, again the library or a transition place at your post should have something, also talk to the Employment Office at your post!
They will have leads and a "network"
Good luck!

All depends on where you want to work and what you want to do.
Infantrymen are especially good at security and police jobs. There is plenty of demand in Iraq for military-style police work, as the security situation has deteriorated somewhat (you are probably well aware of the situation there, being infantry and all). If security and out-of-country aren't for you for whatever reason, then there are plenty of gun safety and training opportunities. If leadership is your thing, then management and business leadership opportunities are well within your reach. Many businesses love to recruit ex-military leaders for their mission-oriented, values-based organization, direction, work ethics, and motivation.
Ultimately, you have to know exactly what you want to do before you begin pursuing the training and the jobs along your chosen career path, because besides the hint of US Army Infantry, we don't have much to go on. Whatever you do, never accept any person telling you that any path is unavailable to you; it's all a question of your interests and best fits aligning with the right training and career planning (for the right experience).

The post office is a favored employer of vets. Find out where the Human Resources Office is and then take that test. The pay is good and your military time counts for retirement. One option. Other options are to go to "opm.gov." for a list of government jobs. Depending on where you live this opportunes you to use those 8 years towards your tenure. Also, another idea is in your hometown go to the Employment Office and talk with the V.A. representative there. They have a knowledge of local business whom want soldiers first. Mostly, remember, nobody takes better care of the soldier than he takes care of him or herself!

Cars. Trucks. Buggies. Furniture. the job is Upholstery. No school, that I know of, teaches it. It is good clean work and there is pride that goes in each finished product. Most shops will hire up a trainee, but they get rooked because after the person learns they open their own and then shops have to start training all over again. But its good honest work, and you make people happy.
