If Iran simply wanted nuclear power then they would have been _given_ nuclear power plants.

Of course you don't need weapons grade uranium to generate electricity so people are suspicious.

There are ways, as far as I know, for a nation to have a nuclear power plant run by outside forces. For example, a nation deemed to be dangerous, can pay for a reactor to be run by, lets say, the UN. But the country would have no control over it, just get the power.
