My fiance and I are getting married in a Catholic church, to do so we have to take classes together, but he is not here because he is in the Navy. How did you guys work it out, if he/she is not here to attend those classes?

A friend of mine just went through this. Her fiance was able to come home on the occasional weekend, and the priest worked around his schedule.

If your priest can't do this, try to find out if he can talk with a priest near where he is stationed, or even a military chaplain.

Good luck!

The Catholic church is very serious about this requirement, and it can be done, maybe at or near his base if he can't travel to her home town.

Maybe inconvenient, but a heck of a lot better than the lifelong harm of a failed marriage.

I'd ask the chaplain at the base. Some offer pre-cana on-site. And if there is an extreme circumstance where you just CAN'T possibly do it, you may be able to get a dispensation from the Bishop of your diocese.

Hope this helps.

You can either take classes when he returns from the Navy or do what we did. Go to www.rentapriest.com These priests are not parish priests as these priests are married. They are just as good as parish priests and do not require marriage preparation classes.

Call the local Navy base chaplain he will help you out.

u will simply have to wait until he is available because the classes have to b taken unless u can get the priest to waive them or let him take them via the mail.
good luck
