With so many soldiers dying just because they aren't properly equipped why isn't the government held to the same standards as everyone else. I get a $5000 fine if a guy takes off his hard hat yet some of these guys can't even get flack jackets.

While OSHA oversees safety for all federal employees it only has jurisdiction on US soil. When OSHA does cite one of the military services it is not a monetary citation.

OSHA has been working with the services since more soldiers died from 1993 to 2000 than from 2001 to the present, and that includes battlefield deaths. 29% of all deaths that have occurred in Iraq have been the result of accidents, not combat.

You have got to be kidding me!!!!
The military can not & does not answer to pencil pushers who have no knowledge of war & soldiers. Do you want them to wear hard hats too? Please send your entire profits or paycheck to goverment & ear mark it for the military. That is what it would take to fund the military to the completely safe level. As a mother of an Army Officer, I am all for it - please send your money but stay out of military decisions before you get someone killed like my son.
