This is a tough question and I would ask yourself this "What do you want to get from going in the service?"

You obviously don't want to make a career of it, so if you are just wanting to use it to pay for school or as a means for a little extra cash you will want to look at what your MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) Will be.

Army has a much broader MOS open to its reservist than the other vocations.

Navy has alot more technical fields open for their sailors and some very specialized training that you can only get through them that can lead to high paying jobs in the civilian world.

Air Force is pretty much the same as the Navy. Alot more emphasis on aeronautical professions obviously.

Marines is all about being a grunt (Soldier) or a POG (People Other than Grunt.) POG's are radio men, tank and APC personnel and the like. They are very hard core too and the basic training is very much more rigorous than the other services.

Also don't pass up the Coast Guard Reserve that's a fantastic opportunity if you are able to check into it.

Also the National Guard is a branch of the US Army, The Air National Guard is part of the Air Force. Just so you know.

Hope that helps.

Good thing about national guard is that you get federal benefirts AND state benefits, all other services get only federal benefits. Satet benefits vary state to state, and range from lots more college money, tax breaks among many others.

You work for the governor as well and help protect your state. If you are going to or planning to go to college, you are better off in the Guard. However, some people are born to be Marines. Follow your gut and do your homework.

Hey! Just pick the one you're most interested in and go for it. Don't listen to other people, because they're NOT you. They don't even know you and neither do I. Do what YOU really want! (just a little suggestion, go for the army reserve, but hey don't listen to me! or you're gonna blame me if you don't like it there, LOL, I'm applying for the army reserve next year, and if, by any chance, I'll see you in Kapooka! lol if I can make it there!).

Good Luck!

If you are going to do it...I say go Marines! Their uniforms are GREAT! :)
I know several Marines and they are some awesome people. I know some Army and Air Force and Navy guys too, (don't get me wrong, I love them all dearly) but I just think the uniform is what gets me though.
