Law Enforcement & Police - October 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Law Enforcement & Police

Police officers are needed in our society everyday. They are very important authorities to everyone. Many people don’t always give officers the respect they deserve. If we didn’t have police officers our society would be very dangerous, even more than it already is. Sometimes though, police take advantage of their authority and gets ideas that they are above the law.
Without police officers there would no order in society whatsoever. There would be crime going unpunished on a daily basis. If people didn’t think here was punishment for their actions they would probably run up and down the streets shooting everyone they passed by. “A police officers job is one of the most important in every community: to keep streets safe and protect citizens from harm”

It's easy to recognize a cop car - the logos, blue lights, etc...and besides, nearly every one I've seen is either a Ford Crown Victoria or, lately, a Chevrolet Impala.

I've also seen some Dodge Chargers, Camaros, Mustangs, and Caprice's used as cop cars.

What about in the 1990s and below? Was there a standard police car that was used? Was it just the Caprice and Crown vic? Were others used?

What about the 1970s? Or before?

And were the cars then a special police package as they are now - souped up engine, suspension, electrical system, etc - or were they just normal cars with a police logo on the side and a light on the top?

(I'm just talking about CARS, by the way, not asking about SUV and truck police vehicles)

In Massachusetts there are very strict penalties for being pulled over for speeding if you are under the age of 18 years old, primarily the suspension of one's license for 90 days. Over the past summer, approximately 3 months ago, I was pulled over for speeding in NEW HAMPSHIRE, and I received a ticket. I paid up the dues on my ticket and never heard another word. Lo and behold, earlier this evening, I received a letter in the mail stating that my license is being suspended for the underage speeding. My question is, is there something wrong with this? New Hampshire law for speeding is not similar to Massachusetts law and considering I was in a different state and I already paid my dues for the offense, shouldn't I be off the hook? Please reassure me that I have a chance in my court appeal because this suspension will cause drastic inconveiniences for me. Thanks in advance.

i was driving around and came upon a vehicle i wanted to pass. there was a left turn lane so i stupidly decided to pass right there. I live in Griffin Georgia and a Georgia State Patrol pulled me over. he wrote me two tickets. one for speeding, 65 in a 45 and one for passing in a no pass zone. i am seventeen years old and have never had a ticket before. what do you think i will get?

p.s. he put on the ticket that i passed two vehicles at once but i KNOW that i didnt. i had plenty of witnesses in the vehicle with me. oh and please no preaching. i am fully aware of my irresponsible actions and am being handled very harsh by my parents. i am going to get it hear at home dont worry. im just wondering about legally.

My friend, is only 19, has no father and was kicked out of his house 1 year ago by his mom. (drinker)
He lives in his car, my apt., just about everywhere... His mom towed his car about 3 months ago for no reason and wouldn't tell him where it is. We tried calling the police to locate the vehicle, but the cops couldn't find a record of it being towed because my friend's mom must have taken off the lic. plates before she called the towing. Now, my friend's mom gave him a letter stating that he has to pay nearly $2,000 for towing & storage fees. We called the towing place and went down only to find out that it had been auctioned off! And they said if he doesn't pay, they would take him to court. My friend has no money, cause he bought a $1,000 car a few weeks ago and works in a grocery store trying to save money for college next semester. We have no idea what to do...His mom won't pay the bill and it wasn't my friend's fault that she towed his vehicle and didn't tell him where it i

My school is searching everyones' bags before they can enter the school. I don't like this policy, but I want to keep a sense of humor about the situation. What's something funny that I can have in my bag just to see if they're really paying attention. I want suggestions that are weird but not illegal in any way.

Public intoxication charge...

Facts...
1. Not intoxicated
2. No testing, breathlizer, or other testing completed at the time of arrest.
3. Other charge of battery, already dismissed, witness spoke to the victim advocate and the prosecutur dismissed .
4. Witness, associated with the above charge is willing to testify of the defendant was not intoxicated.
5, The arrest was made outside of a home, because the defendant went outside after they called the police, and to seek medical attention regarding the accuser abusing them.
Not because they were wandering around drunk, but to seek imediate medical attention

Trial case scheduled, what should I tell the defendant of the likelihood of a guilty verdict?

How common is this scenario: It's night time on the highway...a car zooms by...cop turns on his sirens and starts to follow...meanwhile the car is like half a mile away by now and has mixed with other cars...cops thinks he has the right car and pulls someone else over instead.... how common is this? I've always wondered how often this happens to people.

Theft of court paper work, terrorism, terrorist threats and conspiracy to cover it up. ON 7/10/00 1:31 falsified min order with Allen p fields and the 28 day extension from riley was too. This hearing was a fake it was a cover up for the theft of a proof of service in which they used Judge Riley. I filled this motion at the counter. the lady Lynn Murray called me a liar then she went at got the file she said your a liar I ask her to get supervisor She said her supervisor was on vacation so I said get any sup robin Parker came made sure it was in order she look in file saw the court letter to me from Diana ecabell and said we have to take it. In addition, she made sure it had a proof of service attach to it stapled. And made me change the part about the medical docs where submitted not attached now she missing and they said Murray was dead. The extension enter for a 28 by riley was a false. So Allen p field’s wasn’t the only judge used. Then on 4-12-01 exparte min order hearing set before pro tem Judge Steven Br Keller set a hearing for 5-16-01. In which he set this case for trial. On 5/17/2001 protem appointed James j O'Brian to be acting judge extra and on the same day 17 there was a letter from riley asking me to answer his survey for his settlement program or something .Then on 5-21-01 motion for judgment on pleading was interred by Allen, p field’s retired judge appointed chief justice in 1998. Gave a tentative ruling and set the hearing for 5-30-01 so who set that hearing up and said I was present for the 5/21/2001? That is false they lied. I was given that on the 23 third of May after the 21st hearing they set up the hearing on 5-21-01. Mailed notice to Travis smith in five days plus was able to get chief justice Allen p fields to hear it in 5 days not possible . So if those to be falsified then the judge who herd the 5/30/2001 was and so is the proposed order filled and signed by someone impersonating a judge.

My parents do NOT want me (18) and my boyfriend (21) to see eachother. He hasn't done anything wrong, he's so sweet and has never hurt me or my parents in any way. They don't like him because they think a 21 year old should be in college. School isn't for everyone, he has a secure and well-paying job. They are threatening to get a restraining order against him if he comes on our property or if we continue to see eachother. I still live at home, but I'm looking to move out soon. In my opinion, I'm 18 and it's my decision. Can they get a restraining order against him for no reason? I've heard they can get it for their property, but if we aren't on it, it doesn't matter. Any information??
