... do you think it reasonable to consider allowing them to carry firearms? Yes, yes, I know, "They were on there way to an emergancy", etc. and it,s well worth while killing loads of people just to prove that we don,t like eating cold take-a-ways!". Anyway... who is going to prosecute us, even if we are a load of corrupt, lying, bent ,lazy, murders"?

Strange as it may seem Stand no I don't think that they should be allowed to carry firearms unless they are properly trained. As we both know they killed 220 people on the roads last year through bad driving. You still haven't explained what your "beef" is with the boys in blue, I think we would all like to know. By the way, your "rants" keep us amused.

some you can put down to bad driving perhaps but i can tell you that police pursuit drivers are very well trained these are just unfortunate accidents that will happen at high speeds especially in built up areas and you can never Guarantee that they wont happen, as for firearms the British police firearms officers although trained to a highish standard are nowhere near the level they should be at, to be a competent firearms officer you need to spend hours on the range firing thousands and thousands of rounds not a few mags here and their, but due to the cost they cant, the other problem you have is that they are rarely used so when they do get a shout their far to trigger happy that guy on the tube is a classic example of the police over reacting 5 shots in the head and he was unarmed, the police in this country are not trained enough for all officers to carry firearms and it would be dangerous for the public if they did

If you look at the data on the IPCC site , the amount of deaths on roads hasn't fluctuated that much (48 deaths in 05/06). And of course, many of those deaths involve drivers on drugs or alcohol. I think there are very few incidents where the police directly cause a fatal accident.

The fact that your police have remained unarmed for so long strikes me as being remarkably civilized. Here in America just about everyone can and does carry a gun, it can make life very scary.

To be honest I wouldn't mind as long as I saw one on the streets in Southend... They would be better than the 'Community Support Officers' whom have no real powers at all.
Don't they have those electric stun-guns to use instead of lethal force?
I blame Tories. =]

I have a cousin in the Greater Manchester Police. He has the brain capacity of an amoeba and should not be trusted with a pen, let alone a gun.

If you think the police suck so much why don't you become a Police officer and show them how it's done?
I know five fine police officers and I resent people like you lumping them in with the idiots, life would be worse off without them.

I used to be a night shift mini cab driver in London and saved myself and passengers lives (and police drivers lives) NO FEWER THAN 12 TIMES from the met's inexperienced driving. Very poor. And when they 'pull' you, THEY KNOW BEST!
