Do you understand the methodology behind it?

Part of the whole concept is to test their actions. The other part is to avoid allowing them to pick up your trail several blocks away from where you are leaving (e.g. work)..
It's one thing to do it. It's another to understand HOW to do it and why.

If you suspect someone is following you, act like you are turning right well before the turn (flip on your blinker) then switch lanes (safely) and flip on the left blinker and make your turn. Watch what they do. If they are a pro they will immediately know you are on to them and probably break away. (don’t get paranoid though, it could just be coincidence) If they do follow, pull into a gas station parking lot or something similar (make sure you have an escape route) and see if they follow. Do not stop for them no matter what. Continue these techniques to test them. If indeed you suspect they are following you get their license number and report it immediately. Preferably drive to a police station if you can, or a crowded area if a police station is not an option. Tell the police how you tested the follower to substantiate the fact that you were indeed being followed.

Be SAFE out there and God bless.

you could give it a try. it is hard to tell where a stranger who harasses you will pop up. i also encourage you to tell the police. you could even try to take an earlier bus or ask the police to provide an escort for you to your school from the bus stop. many strangers will not cause trouble like harassing people if the police are in the area.
