I respect that other countries do things differently and that in the UK the police often get things wrong, but I feel that the Portugese Police give the impression of being so incompetent: For example they did not preserve the scene of crime, they missed vital clues. What do you think the "new developments" they say they are about to release will be?

Get this: Union City, GA bills itself as "the Progressive City." What an embarrassment! I wonder if the employee was an African American. Georgia is notorious for treating their minorities badly.

Or is this just another example of someone with a "real job" treating a worker in the service industry like crap. No doubt this cop is a petty tyrant and a petty bourgeoisie. He's probably on the take.

Where is the justice?

If a citizen killed this same dog he would be charged with killing a police officer. Why the double standard?

I bought a car from a local dealer. As usual he took copies of my DL etc. Few months later I met this wonderful person and we dated. For some crazy reason her ex-boyfriend got all worked up and wanted to knock me out. That i can live with. But he could not find where I lived but he came to know I bought a car from this dealer who happens to be his friend! One day he stops my girlfriend and shows her his information gathering skills with copies of my DL and other docs that he told her he got from the dealer friend. I am kind of shocked. Isn't that illegal?? Does anyone know what legal rights I have against the dealer? And this freako ex-boyfriend?

Got issued a ticket for driving without a license not permit and being under the age of 16 for driving her father to the hospital who had just had a heart attack. Should they go to court? I mean yes there were other alternatives such as calling an ambulance but what if you live too far for any fire departments to reach you in time? There is no way her father was in driving condition. He could of had another one while driving and ended up dead! Should she and her father seek a lawyer and take this to court? I think so. What do you think?

I crossed the Tacoma Narrow Bridge while visiting Gig Harbor (to & fro) on August 25, 2007. I travelled from Redmond,WA to Gig Harbor,WA with the help of the Google Map. In the printable version of the Google map, there is no mention about the lane that goes through the toll counters. I was travelling on the left most lanes & crossed the bridge without paying the toll out of ignorance, as I found all the vehicles ahead of me moved without any halts. I probably have also missed the sign that mentions about the vehicles with transponders should only travel on those lanes & rest should take the other route. Thus I received a toll infraction notice from Pierce County District Court posing a fine of $49 with a due date of September 28, 2007. This is a severe blow, as I have never been a traffic offender & want to maintain it.
I would appreciate if anyone could suggest the best course of action.

Why would he say that if it isn't true. My first instinct is to trust a police officer . NOTE: I was pulled over in a state forest (i was lost). Does THAT make it different?

If handcuffed, and taken to the station, do they have to read you your rights?

I was doing over 10 MPH the speed limit in a 30 MPH limit zone and saw this flash and I automatically assumed that the camera had caught me. Anyway, when they send me the ticket by mail, suppose I just throw the ticket away and if they call me or anything, I just say that I never received the ticket? Or I could just say the mailman probably delivered it to the wrong address?

Would this work? Do I have any other way out of this? This is my first speeding ticket lol so I'm trying to sneak my way out =)

My brother-in-law was attacked by three men in a local HEB's parking lot Thursday night after he approached one of the three to inquire about money owed to him. The three began to punch and kick my brother-in-law before he drew a knife and stabbed one of the assailants before running into the grocery store to find my sister and help. Within minutes police arrived on the scene. The assailant who was stabbed got into his car and tried to leave but was dead before the car ever left the parking lot.

All of this took place in clear view of security cameras. My brother-in-law was not arrested that night, but later went to the station for questioning the next day where he was placed into a suicidal watch room. He has been there for the past 3 days.
Local newspapers have reported the deceased's side of the story and report that there is no known motive?? My bro-in-law has a clean record and the deceased has a long string of run in's with the law.
What charges do my bro-in-law face?

On will and grace, karen got out of a ticket because the cop forgot to sign it. Could i contest it on those grounds? Does he not sign my copy? Basically if there is no signature on my copy of the ticket, can i contest it in court???

My son (17) was riding in the car with some friends. They got pulled over by cops and the driver (17) was arrested for not showing up to court for tickets. In the process they searched my son, emptied his pockets etc. They took his cell, wallet etc out of his pockets and then threw it in the car. They then towed the car not allowing my son to get his items out. Now the tow co. will not give us his belongings because its not our car and they wont let you get things out of the vehicle until its paid for. Its been almost 2 weeks and the guy is still in jail. We have no clue when he is gonna get out. How can we get his belongings?
ps- my son was never arrested, charged or found to be doing anything wrong

I am stupid. I got that. but..
I am 16 and I was pulling out the school parking lot for lunch and soon got pulled over by a cop.
I sighned it and looked at the ticket later on...
He said I was going 39 MPH in a 25 MPH school zone. next to that he had three options on how he judged my speed, "pace", "radar", and "other". He checked other, so I know he didn't use a radar gun. I admit I was going over but not 39. I have a small Nissan Frontier and its a standard. When he pulled me over I was in 3rd gear and it was wasn't revving up like I was going to fast and it was kciking like I was going to slow. I believe I was going 30-35.
After looking more he wrote that I was 17 years old, i'm only 16. He also didn't sighn the ticket on the back nor write down the price.
Can I get out of it?

The situation is: filing complaints for 2 years about various noisy neighbours in my apartment building. I have extreme high blood pressure and congestion to the point of throwing up constantly. I have gone to the management, police, legal, court, and even the security guard in the building. Nothing has been done. I can't move out until I can move about again. My next choice is to withhold rent until this noise issue is solved. So my question is, can I do it? And what situations can I withhold rent? I need to find it and print it out. Canada.
