I crossed the Tacoma Narrow Bridge while visiting Gig Harbor (to & fro) on August 25, 2007. I travelled from Redmond,WA to Gig Harbor,WA with the help of the Google Map. In the printable version of the Google map, there is no mention about the lane that goes through the toll counters. I was travelling on the left most lanes & crossed the bridge without paying the toll out of ignorance, as I found all the vehicles ahead of me moved without any halts. I probably have also missed the sign that mentions about the vehicles with transponders should only travel on those lanes & rest should take the other route. Thus I received a toll infraction notice from Pierce County District Court posing a fine of $49 with a due date of September 28, 2007. This is a severe blow, as I have never been a traffic offender & want to maintain it.
I would appreciate if anyone could suggest the best course of action.

No big deal. It was an accident. Just pay for it.

Not sure why the question was deleted, probably people thought they were being insulted. The Only time I have known with relative certainty why someone reported me, was when they told me. They claimed it as punishment, because I admitted to reporting content from a user. The user was removed. She repeatedly asked questions such as How do you blow up a building in New York. I've received a few Notices. About 3 I feel were more or less deserved, or rather technically correct. I personally try to ONLY report actual violations. It has little to nothing to do with supposed alliances. Example, I've seen people on here who profess to be Witnesses (I am a Witness) put up content that was against TOS. I reported it. I've seen content I disagreed with completely, on a personal level, however, it didn't, in my opinion, violate TOS, so I left it. Did I like the question/answer/comment?? No, but it was that person's right to put it up. One of my contacts has asked several, at least in my opinion, innocuous queries, not controversial in the least, that were removed. It seems to be a random "crap shoot". Hope this helps.

In Oklahoma, a toll infraction costs $117.00 minimum, but is not a moving violation, therefore does not go on your driving record, just as parking violations do not. Pay the ticket before it gets to be a serious situation.

The only real course of action is to pay the fine and be done with it. You won't get it removed from your record... not with a miracle-working attorney on your side... and that costs a LOT more than $49 (plus the cost of the stamp).
Welcome to the real world... where people who drive make mistakes... NOT the end of the ENTIRE world... just the world as you've known it! Oh.. and this won't affect your insurance rates or driving record... not really.

I think you're out of luck and will just have to pay the toll and fine. Traffic laws are set up to cost more to set aside, than just to pay them, even if you didn't mean to be an offender, otherwise you'll have to see an attorney and see how much it will cost to get your record straightened out. Either way, it'll cost you. It's just a matter of "picking your poison" er.. position.

I do think you did not intentionally do this, but it is best to pay it, in some places, that can impound your vehicle, and it will cost a lot more than the amount they want you to pay now.

If you pay for it, it wouldn't be in your permanent driving record. If you didn't pay for it, then a judge going to issue you a citation for failure to pay and then he can issue an arrest warrant which is worse than paying $49. Better to pay than having an arrest record.

Just pay the fine. You made a mistook, so accept the penalty.
