My brother-in-law was attacked by three men in a local HEB's parking lot Thursday night after he approached one of the three to inquire about money owed to him. The three began to punch and kick my brother-in-law before he drew a knife and stabbed one of the assailants before running into the grocery store to find my sister and help. Within minutes police arrived on the scene. The assailant who was stabbed got into his car and tried to leave but was dead before the car ever left the parking lot.
All of this took place in clear view of security cameras. My brother-in-law was not arrested that night, but later went to the station for questioning the next day where he was placed into a suicidal watch room. He has been there for the past 3 days.
Local newspapers have reported the deceased's side of the story and report that there is no known motive?? My bro-in-law has a clean record and the deceased has a long string of run in's with the law.
What charges do my bro-in-law face?

By the way, I live in Texas. So it will be Texas law that convicts him or releases him.

Depending upon the what the DA can, or thinks he can prove.
Questions, the DA'll be considering,
Why did these guys owe your brother-in-law money?
What options did he had when attacked?
How badly was he injured when attacked?
Why was he carrying a knife?
How many times did he stab the guy?
Are there any 3rd party witnesses, and what do they say?
Do the video cameras support either side of the story?
Depending on these answers, anything from
Murder in the 1st degree through to criminally neglient homicide, (different places call these different names0.

dear lord john! its been so long since ive talked to you and this wasnt the way i thought it would be. first of all im so sorry to hear what happened i can only imagine what your family must be feeling! Your brother needs an attorney, one who will fight to get the survalliance tape, and one who would consider releasing the full story your bros side to the public, if you think thats helpful.his only chance is self-defense. help your sister to find a lawyer right now and dont wait for charges to be brought. send me an email and keep me posted.be well.

If it was 3 against 1 and (they) initiated the attack then I don't see anyway that a DA could press charges against your brother in law.
Any charges at all would be against the two surviving assailants.
This should be a warning to any potential assailents out there.
Many people are licensed to carry and do carry firearms.

via fact the end results of your movements improve into forseeable, you could the two be responsible of manslaughter, or reckless endangerment. Your penal complex time could be mitigated via the indisputable fact that he willingly drank the everclear, yet you could nonetheless bypass away for some years. wish that danger is properly worth $a hundred to you.

Your BIL needs a lawyer. check out this site for him. I think with the video it should be shown as self defense. But he needs to get a lawyer.
