I got a speeding ticket on the highway today, 97 in a 75 but on my copy of the ticket there is no signature from the officer. On will and grace, karen got out of a ticket because the cop forgot to sign it. Could i contest it on those grounds? Does he not sign my copy? Basically if there is no signature on my copy of the ticket, can i contest it in court???

I don't really "sign" tickets here. I just write my name on the bottom, more for the city clerk then the person getting the ticket.

Never really been an issue, I've forgotten to do it before and officers here are legally allowed to mend citations after the fact if it doesn't change the facts of the case. Never seen a ticket in court throw out because of this.

First, stop watching TV. Second, the fact that your copy isn't signed does not mean that his copy and the court copy is not. Believe it or not, police are people too and they do make mistakes sometimes. If necessary the officer can amend the ticket at court. I've forgotten to sign tickets in the past and later signed my copy that I turn in. There is alot of things going on when a police officer makes a stop. If you were speeding, pay the ticket or set it up for a hearing an explain why you were speeding. Maybe the judge will have mercy for you.

Remember, there's a carbon copy of the ticket issued to you. The ticket can also be amended to read the correct information. You can potentially get out of it but if you lose, you'll incur court costs and fees as well as lawyer fees.

You broke the law, it's time to pay for it.

Yes. You should go to court and them them that on Will and Grace, Karen got out of a ticket that way. That would be just great.

How about you drive more slowly. 97 mph is just nuts.

Unless someone jumped out while the Officer was writing the citation, and yelled CUT, like they do on the filming of Will, and Grace, then the citation is 100% valid.

Slow down and watch less TV. It is your right to go to court and contest the ticket, but it might not go your way. good luck
