Law Enforcement & Police - April 2007

Some cops seem to get off on the power they have and treat people like crap. I've had cops stop me and call me an ex-con, give me grief for nothing and make threats just because of my record and have seen them go over the top with others for just querying them.

I know I've been in trouble and they have a job to do but sometimes they just end up making you hate them more.

Have dealt with some alright ones too but not usually.

Here's the story my friend (she's 17) was walking to her car from school and there's this path where people cross to get on the other side well she was walking and a car was speeding up and the girl driving (also 17) ran over her foot and stopped. She acted like she could care less. Everyone told her to move back but she didn't then after a minute she moved back. Her foot is totally black and I don't know if it's broken and everyone there was saying oh you can walk home when she was about to cry. She went to the clinic to get an x-ray and the principal did nothing about it. What would you do in this situation or what do you think she should do?

in 15 years never received a ticket....today i received a ticket for supposedly going 16 miles over the speed limit. when i returned home to inspect the ticket, i noticed the officer incorrectly wrote the wrong month (he wrote march instead of april). i am responsibile within 10 days the date of the ticket. according to the ticket's date, i am already 20 days past due. i called the station and was given a "don't worry about it" response. my wife believes that because of the error, as a legal document it should be voided and thrown out. i am thinking of showing up to court and explaining this. do i have a good argument?

I am asking because this particular agency doesn't fit into our government. Here is what I mean:

The Central Intelligence Agency protects the United States in other countries.

The National Security Agency protects the United States' borders.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation protects the United States within our borders.

So, to ask the question once again, what is the purpose of Homeland Security.

One more thing, I want excellent resources from you or your answer will not be considered. Also, DO NOT list Wikipedia as a resource.

Everytime they show it on TV I think it's hilarious, it's not like the guy was in mortal danger or got hit in the knee with a nightstick, or fell in a rosebush or anything. Now if she had hit him over the head with the skateboard, that would have been "brutality". To show off like that when someone is telling you not to do something, he got what he had coming to him. I suppose the police officer's ten days suspension was because she did it in front of a camera?

I was thinking about going to the police k9 trials in scottsdale az. Does anyone know how much it cost to get in? Have you been to one? Is it an ok thing to bring a 1 year old to, I'm asking because of noise, heat...etc. There's a web site for it but it says nothing on it about price to get in or how long the event accually lasts. I live in the city of philadelphia and we currently have a murder rate of about 3 a days. So they are always saying if you see something please call. I saw something over the weekend and called and nobody ever came. My neighobr told me on thursday he saw a man standing on the corner with a gun so he called the cops and nobody ever came. Is it just me or do they want us to kill ourselves off so they don't have to work?

I have to do a 3 minute "mock" teaching of the Miranda Warnings. It doesn't matter which direction I come to it from (legal, law enforcement, K-9 Handler, history) just as long as Miranda Warnings is my subject. Visual handouts will dramatically increase my grade. Same Q, Different Time...

Almost 2 months ago I got pulled over and ticketed for a broken tailight, driving others when my 6 months weren't up, and then on top of that I got ticketed for not knowing where my proof of insurance was (I did have it though). Anyway, my court date finally came. It was today. The judge was really nice. I showed her my proof of insurance, she took that off. I let her know that we got the tailight fixed, she took it off. And here comes the stupid part... we had been sitting in that room for a while and I got to listen to plenty of people pleading their cases. There was this one guy who went up with the same proof-of-insurance issue as me and he also had some other thing. The judge told him something about getting it deferred and how he would just need to come in for reviews or something. So...when the judge asked me if I wanted the driving-other-people deferred...I don't know. I am so stupid, I was just like 'oh no, that's okay, I know I did it.' I just...

If I am a passenger in a vehicle, and we are pulled over, sometimes the officer askes for I.D.'s of everyone in the vehicle. If I do not have one, but I give him (or her) my information, does the officer call it in to dispatch to check me out? Or do they type the info in on their "in-car" computer?

I got a ticket for Following too Closely w/ and accident, and got something from DMV in the mail saying I must attend a driving class or else my liscense would get supsended. I attended the class, but I was wondering, since It was manditory for me to take the class, will the offence be taken off my record, or at least not get the points since I did go to the class? what will be the out come of this charge i got charged with draw adeadly weapon =knife but i dint stab or hurt anyone i was in laughlin casino when it happened i was pretty drunk and the boucer asked me for my knife so i took it out and laid it on the counter he then told me he was going to keep it so i picked it up and took it back in the process i guess i was acking like a fool i never did put it back in my pocket and he felt treatend i just didnt want him to have it im from arizona where u have a right to have weapons as long as there not hidden i guess what im trying to say is i didnt try to stab anyone i was just being plane stupid drunk. will it be a misdeminor charge or a felony the cops told me it was a misdimenor but im still scared for i have court on may fifth i just want to know if anyone is familiar with nevada state law cause they said it was draw a deadly weapon in a treat manner im 30 and never been convicted of anything.

I was supposedly caught by a stationary laser going 78 in a 55 mph zone by a county officer in clermont county, ohio. My question is one, as a juvenile am i allowed to defend myself? i take post secondary in law and even if i lose it would be good practice. Secondly what will most likely be the sentance if found guilty? Ive heard that first offence no matter how fast your going is 30 days and classes but then i heard if your going so much over the suspension is longer. Any comments is greatly appreciated. i was stopped once before at 64 in a 55 and i was so i plead guilty but it was dismissed... should i bring this up in court or when asked if its my first offence should i mention it? Thanks!

Such as sometimes at my house at night it is really quiet and I'm trying to sleep and then a Police Chopper Flashes thier lights right above your house. and I can tell because the light shines into my window. What Gives? If they don't stop that I'm going to file a Lawsuit.
