I know what the complaint codes, and 10 codes are; or most of those codes... but i dont get what they mean when they say stuff like 1charlie to david 4... or david 77 15 adam.

However most of what you describe are the individual unit call signs of the patrol units.

Eric B's response is correct! The "1-Charlie" and "David-4" are patrol radio identifications.

A typical radio call may be something like "Communications to 3 Adam 5"...etc!

Those are unit designators. Each letter or number tells a specific thing about the unit. Shift, beat location, how many cops in that car, etc.

Those codes arent out there for everyone to see.
