Sure, firearms can be misused. But don't criminals show more respect for citizens if they know they are ready to defend themselves? Or even suspect that they might be?

We have cities where gun possession is banned, and they are not exactly America's crime-free zones. Isn't an armed civilian population a less attractive target for criminals?

Oak Park, Illinois, went gun-free about 25 years ago, and crime has risen steadily ever since. Hmmm.

Why do rich people live in gated communities? If their homes are protected by armed guards, why shouldn't the poor family across town have their own gun to protect their home?

In my neighborhood, a lot of homes have a sign outside saying "Protected by Security Service - Armed Response."

Funny thing but I don't see any signs saying "We believe in gun control so we are not armed." Hmmm.

Is "gun control" just a politically correct way of saying "disarming the poorer people"?

I'd like to be a police officer. What do I have to do to get my foot in the door? I've heard stuff about police academy and things like that but I'm not sure how to get started, or how much training and such might cost me. I mean do I just walk in and put in an application like a local McDonalds or what?

few weeks ago our son was looking through bedroom window seconds after the window was broken with a catapult, my son had seen 4 youths over the road told us who they were so my partner ran out to find them. He came back 20 minutes later told me he saw 4 youths hiding in trees when he was in car so when he did find them dragged one of them to the car to take to police station to explain at this the chap aged 15 sat on the ground so that my partner could not lift him so he hit him on the head with a metal tube knowing it was wrong but was very angry and upset thinking what could have happened if our son had not have moved. as he got into the car he saw this lad get up holding his head and walk off. That evening my partner was arrested for assaulting the youth was taken for 6 hours the police said that because he had told the truth would have him for common assault now his friends have changed stories lots of times and now are saying he was knocked out will the court see our side or liars

I went to 3 dollar cafe yesterday and split 2 pitchers of beer with a buddy of mine. We were there for a couple hours and i had some wings to eat, so i was not drunk, but the limit is so low in GA that i probably would have blown over the limit. Anyways, 2 Cops were sitting in the parking lot and 1 followed me out. i quickly pulled into a neighborhood about a mile on the right. cop followed. i obeyed all traffic rules, and he followed some more. i pulled into a house with no car and pretended like it was mine. he turned the corner. turned off his lights, and waited. after a few minutes, he went to the front of the neighborhood and hid with his lights off, behind a big area of bushes. i know this, b/c when i called my buddies wife to pick us up, we saw him. he sped up to our car on the way out and shined his light, but i guess realized he couldn't get us on anything. and sped away back to the nghbrhd. i had to go home and pick up my car this morn.

Do you like the whole idea of bunch of citizens participating in every days life of a police department? Do you like to tell them what so-and-so police department is doing? Do you like them to go on "ride-along" with a police officer during his/her hectic shift?

What do you think about this program?

By allowing sex offenders back on the streets instead of serving and protecting their citizens from real threats?Don't they have special agents that work with the control of drugs on the streets?I think there needs to be tougher laws in the case of Jessica Lunsford and as others. If some one wan'ts to throw their life away on drugs, that is their own business. But if some one is raped ,I think there should to be tougher laws against that. What is wrong with our justice system?
