I'd pay it, just to settle up with the karma gods. Stuff like that does come back to bite you in the butt when you least expect it.

Prison, dude. Hard time and hard labor. More than likely, if you fail to pay your parking ticket, you will be sentenced to 50 years in a maximum security prison along with all the other ticket offenders!!!
Okay, seriously. So many people don't pay their tickets because of so many reasons that the courts usually don't sweat it that much. More than likely, your fine will simply be increased in the form of a non-bookable traffic warrant, and you'll be given another citation the next time you have contact with law enforcement. Just pay up now, because if you keep putting it off, eventually it will become significant enough that you could be arrested. NOT worth it!

Don't know about IL, but in a lot of states, if you have outstanding parking tickets anywhere in the state, the DMV will be notified and you'll be unable to renew your plates. Then it's either pay the fine or re-register your vehicle, which will most likely be a hell of a lot more expensive. Failure to pay could also result in your plates being flagged as "suspended" or something along those lines, in which case they can be removed from your vehicle, and you car can be IMPOUNDED. No clue if IL does that, but you may want to check before you throw the ticket in the trash.

Below is an article that does a pretty good job in covering how Dekalb deals with unpaid parking tickets. Basically, they're going to send you to collections if you don't pay. Once you reach 10 unpaid tickets, they start handling it as a criminal matter.
I'm not sure how agressively Dekalb is going to pursue you for a single ticket, but if they do track you down... it's going to be significantly more expensive than if you had just paid the ticket to begin with.

you don't have to pay it and so long as you don't return to the city you should have no problem..however, if you were in the wrong, why don't you straighten it out and pay the ticket.. I believe there is such a thing as personal ethics.. and if you believe that there is.. then my question for you is this.. do you have personal ethics or not... do whatever your personal philosophy tells you to do... right is right and wrong is wrong.. What do you think?

They do have a record of it, and if you get a lot of parking tickets they will come after you, and the fine will be more, I would just pay it and get it over with, and they can also suspend your license too. if you get a lot and don't pay for them. its not worth it. just pay it. and be careful next time.

You will be in for a rude awakening when you renew your driver's license, or car tags,m and you find out you have been flagged for unpaid tickets. You will have to pay the tickets plus the penalties, before you can renew your license and tags. Just take care of it now, before you dig yourself into a deeper hole.

What was the fine $20-$30?The previous answer was correct-I'd go ahead and pay it to avoid bad karma.Plus the cops WILL send you to a collection agency to collect, and unpaid tickets sometimes turn into bench warrants.

Dude ~ they can put a warrant out for your arrest. I would pay it if I were you. It's not worth going to jail for.
