I went to 3 dollar cafe yesterday and split 2 pitchers of beer with a buddy of mine. We were there for a couple hours and i had some wings to eat, so i was not drunk, but the limit is so low in GA that i probably would have blown over the limit. Anyways, 2 Cops were sitting in the parking lot and 1 followed me out. i quickly pulled into a neighborhood about a mile on the right. cop followed. i obeyed all traffic rules, and he followed some more. i pulled into a house with no car and pretended like it was mine. he turned the corner. turned off his lights, and waited. after a few minutes, he went to the front of the neighborhood and hid with his lights off, behind a big area of bushes. i know this, b/c when i called my buddies wife to pick us up, we saw him. he sped up to our car on the way out and shined his light, but i guess realized he couldn't get us on anything. and sped away back to the nghbrhd. i had to go home and pick up my car this morn.

Thank you for all the people on their horses...any one who has ever used a cellphone while driving or driven while tired or had cough syrup is driving impaired.
I was NOT DRUNK, not even close...but I didn't even want to risk it.
But even if you have one beer it is "possible" to blow over...
so, BLOW ME!
While they were off following me there were 10 other guys driving home hammered....AND
my military buddy got killed by a drunk driver...so I don't believe in drunk driving either.

Now who said that the Police don't have a sense of humor?. Did you enjoy the Cat, and Mouse game?. Here's a free lesson. The best place to catch a DUI/DWI, is to go to where they serve alcohol. Because you were eating, while you were drinking does not mean you were not drunk (using your own terms). Food does not cancel out alcohol, it just slows the absorption rate, so your blood alcohol level rises slower. There is no law against drinking, and driving. The violation is driving while impaired, or over the legal limit. Driving into someone else's driveway is one of the oldest tricks in the book. You're ready to claim harassment, when the Officer actually did you a favor. You were being observed, and were given a chance because you stopped driving. If the Officer really wanted to tag you, he could have done it as soon as you took the car keys out of you pocket. That's called being in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence. If you ever see that Officer again, I believe you owe him a Thank You. He saved you a lot of time, and money, by making you realize that you shouldn't have been driving.

Why did you turn into a neighborhood you didn't live in? Why did you park in some strangers driveway? Oh wait, you were drunk driving and afraid of getting arrested. You say you weren't drunk, but probably over the limit. THERE IS A LIMIT FOR A REASON!!!! Most DUI's aren't drunk, they are impaired. Driving impaired is a crime.
Secondly, where is the harassment? The cop didn't even pull you over (like he should have) or even talk to you! Why can't a cop follow people and park with their lights off? Does that make any sense to you? Here you got off lucky and you are stupid enough to say that this is harassment.
Here is an idea for you, go to the police department and file an harassment complaint. Tell them the same story you just told us. You better wear a helmet cause you are gonna get thrown out on your head!!!

Of course it is not harassment. Yes staking out a bar was iffy but it was legal to follow you. And the cop did nothing wrong to with seeing if you were just evading him..... as you were.
You are very lucky that he didn't run your plates and see what address you had on your license. Then he could have stopped and questioned you and ask you what business you have at that house.
With no proof he could have arrested you for trespassing, charged you with drunk in public, evasion, making false statements, maybe a DWI and towed your car.
Or the owner of the house could have come home. Inviting questions and towing.
The cop could have just been originally driving behind you. All of this for one pitcher of beer over a few hours. Often if the cop asks if you have been drinking and you say yes but only 3 over a few hours the cop lets you go. He realizes that the test at the station is the only one that counts and that by the time you get there your BAC won't be enough to charge you.
So be smart next time. If you see cops in the lot hang out for a while until they leave. An hour lost is cheaper than a DWI. And acting or thinking like a criminal rarely pays off. Again when he saw you get picked up he could have checked the car.
And who are you going to call and explain that you were evading? Just think twice next time.

had you pulled into my driveway and left your vehicle there overnight, you would have been re-claiming it from the impound yard the next day...no this was not harassment. the officer was probably part of a D.U.I. task force assigned to watch problem spots. he was trying to establish probable cause to stop you, other than the fact he had just seen you leaving a club. waiting outside of a tavern and stopping everyone who exits is against the law/ department regulations in most places. you are lucky that he was ethical and opted not to stop you for weaving over the center line (try proving you didn't) at which time you would have been given a field sobriety test. instead of trying to make a problem for the officer, you should be grateful that he had integrity and took the extra effort to do things the right way, and let this be a lesson for you.

Not really harassment....maybe "hard up", or compiling a few M.O. notes to nail you on a big one. He knew that sitting in the parking lot of a business that serves alcohol, and following a patron out of that business is bad practice, ( which could be seen as entrapment). The possible charges or accusations of harassment from the merchant because local Law enforcement is conducting business from a private parking lot, would not sit well with other businesses in the community. If it happens again , call the watch commander and have a simple "Low Keyed" talk with him. Keep your eyes open and get a designated driver from now on.

No it is not harassment you left a bar after drinking and he followed you. You should have called the wife to pick you up at the bar. You knew the cops were in the parking lot so if you drove they are allowed to watch you drive. Dont drink and drive.

Not harassment, but that cop wanted to bust you bad. You really can't call anyone for that. It's a good thing you were aware of what was going on with that cop.

Harassment? He was protecting us from drunk drivers like you. Any complaints you have will most certainly fall on deaf ears. And rightfully so since he was doing his job.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I think you are describing the classic components of a DUI offense, not harassment.
