Law Enforcement & Police - January 2007

ask if he has actually hit you and you tell them no, but he is throwing things around and stuff and you fear that the abuser is going to hurt you, how come the police won't remove the affender from the home. They told my friend you have to be hit first before we do anything. Why is this does anyone understand it??

this is a first time offence ,she is 52 years old and a mother of 4 just trying to make a small nest egg for her self .I have no idea what to expect from here on out .And there have already been 3 other raids on other family members homes .i really dont know whats going happen next.

Im confused on whether this would be considered sexual contact and illegal. Consider age of consent being 17. My initial guess would be no. I'm referring to a peck not a full blown makeout session. Thought about this reading my NYS Penal law.

I had a felony eluding charge put on me, and went to my first hearing, ( pretty much just to set another date) but the DA didn't set a date they asked for more time. ( donno why). bibn't hear anything for over six months. I that time frame i moved to oregon and the other day got pulled over and the officer said i had a warrent out of washington for Eluding. he didn't take me in but wasn't sure if another officer wouldn't. so my Questions is will they Extradite me to washington for this? I think he said bail was around $15,000.I don't know if it makes a difference but I do have a felony record, all driving though. thanks , please help

My son is in rehab and let on where one of his dealers is. I happens to be in a store. I WANT to go in there, find him myself and give him a piece of a mother's mind (but I don't actually know who it is). But I'll be satisfied if he is just caught and doesn't ruin any more kids lives. Any idea how to get the interest of my local law inforcement?

that the US penal system is absurd??? If it were up to me, I would NOT prosecute anyone for drug use or prostitution....Rape would dealt according to circumstance and the only thing I would focus on would be murder/attempted murder, abuse/weapon attacks and animal abuse etc....but drug abuse and prostitution have made this system largely ineffective. Am I right or am I right?

Okay im 16 n i just went to the DH yesterday but they realsed me yesterday but they told me they were charging me with class 3 felony,because i was in a stoling vehicle which i did not know was stollin because the passenger said it was theirs n to drive them home cause they was too tired, but they also pulled me over for speeding .Do you think that is such a felony and would i have to do time?

think about it, if it weren't for the criminal element, a lot of people will be out of a job, from law enforcement to security; and a lot of businesses would fail, from bail bonds to alarm companies...without crime, the economy would collapse?

i found out that there is a arrest warrant in my name, however i didn't make the crime. the crime was for someone in ohio, i was living in louisiana and have never been to ohio. i have proof and a lease, along with bills from that time from my louisiana house. and car insurance and school transcripts and bills..... they must be around the same age as me, by the dates this was filed. they also used my social for a lease on an apartment, and school, along with all the school bills! help!!! what can i do????? is this the same as identity theift with credit cards????? i dont want this coming up on me and have me go to jail for something i didnt do!

I was arrested on friday night for not immedialy stopping for an unmarked Detroit Police car until I made it up to the gas station 2 blocks up. They seatched my car without permission but I know that is probally procedure. They tried to charge me with fleeing the police for not stopping on when they tried to pull me over but the police sargent dropped the charges. When I got down to the police station I called my parents and when they came down there the Detroit Police had other people things in my record and that is why I had ro spend a night in jail. My question is can the police officer drive your car to the police station after being arrested. Plus, I was never read my miranda rights.

Since Dec. 6th our son has been pulled over by our locale police 12 times 5 times in 1 weekend for the exast being too loud. After the 1st warning we ordered the new mufflers for his truck. The 5th time they gave him a ticket for noise. Even though we had proof that they were on order. Pulled over another time for a burned out headlight, another for a burned out tail light. Fixit tickets for these. Ticket for excebition driving, (going from ice to tar and the tires squeeled), speeding 3 miles hr. over the speed limit. Tabs not matching the plate (this was taken care of because of the person we bought the truck from) I can't even remember what the other 2 were for right now. My question is, how much is too much before it's concidered harrassment? In, our opionon it's already there. Is there someone we can contact to file a complaint. We live in a pretty tight comunity and working with the chief isn't really an option.

I'm writing an editorial and need stats on
* the number of police-related shooting deaths in 2006
across the U.S. (or in Houston, Texas, if available)
* the number of police officers shot and killed in the line of duty
across the U.S. and in Houston only.

I sympathize with those who have lost loved ones on both sides of police-related fatalities, in calling for a combined coalition to promote law enforcement without violence, for the sake of both officers' and public safety. Any websites or statistics available?
