I think by first time offence you are saying the first time she has been caught. Sounds like she had been under surveilence for a while and got caught with the goods. Trying to make a small nest egg is no excuse for running drugs. She will spend some time in prison and you do what you can to assist her children to deal with the aftermath.

What can you expect? Realistically? Felony charges to be filed. For her to be considered an unfit parent and her 4 children placed in foster care if they are under age 18.
You don't do illegal things to get a nest egg.

sounds like a little more to the story. if this was a one time deal, why are other family members getting busted? there is not much to do,short of helping with legal fees or helping with caring for the kids if minors.

Wow! To put it blunt, in life there are risks and consequences. When you take bad risks, you have bad consequences. The judicial system is designed to provide adequate representation regardless of how much money someone has. If you want to help someone, help her kids to make better decisions than their mother. There are definitely better ways to make money.

She's looking at some serious prison time. As far as the drugs were planted in the rental car comment No one's going to believe that one.

Does the police have proof that she had possession of the drugs while renting the car? or the drugs were already in the vehicle before she rented it?
Someone might have planted it on the car, so she would fall for the blame, instead of her other family members.

Ha ha 300 lbs. This is the problem when people talk about others being locked up for marijuana. 300 lbs. is a minimum of $12,000 worth of pot. What is your whole family drug runners? Good luck, maybe you should take up selling pot to pay for their attorney fees.
