My friend and I were accused of stealing gas on 2 attempts. An officer knocked on my door and told me I was coming with him. When I asked why he told me for stealing gas. He told me my friend said she did it and i was with her. I asked if i was being arrested and the officer said yes. Then I proceeded to the vehicle. The officer never put cuffs on me. Then I was finger printed and given apperance tickets. At no time before or after my arrest was I ever read my rights. Can I get this case dropped?

Upon graduating the police academy or when he joins with a department? And are you considered a police officer the day you graduate academy or not until you get a job? I saw this academy graduation video and they all call out the names of the graduates "police officer so and so please come forward" (referring to the students) as they are handing out the certificates.

Recently, my wife involved in a car accident. It is clearly the other's party fault for causing the accident by driving w/out stop at the stop sign. When my wife call police to do a report. The officer show up, and stating that he/she by law does not require to do report. The officer said that he/she just there to make sure both parties exchange information and then left. Now, the other party that smashing into my wife's car claim to his/her insurance that it was my wife's fault. The problem is there's no witness and no report from the officer. If the officer had take the report then I believe the party would not lie about his statement.

Well I was put on Probation for one year for breaking a protection order by sending noun threating Email..Well Probation you have no freedom can not get a job as a truck drive or join the military.. Probation you have to pay every month for one year and pay for Anger management classes every 2 weeks for one year..
So what you rathor have Probation or Jail.. I should have taken jail time.. Probation will burn you.. You miss a class you breach probation.. You do not pay you in trouble..

I live in central NJ (a somewhat rural - read: caucasian area) and see minorities pulled over much more frequently than white people.

Do police target minorities in predominently white areas, or do all of these minorities get pulled over for legitimate reasons (not just for being black or mexican or indian)?

I am 23 years old. I am graduated college this May with majors in Anthropology and Sociology. I just joined the military and will be going into military training for 5 months after graduation. I then hope to attend a police academy.

First of all, do I go to a police academy before I apply for a job?

How many vacancies are out there these days?

How is the ranking like, for example, sergeant, chief, sheriff, ect, who is higher in rank, and

how much do they get paid?

Please tell me everything you know about this. I am really interested in doing this as a career, but unfortunately don't know much about it.

thanks.

important to work in law enforcement. Right now I finished three full semsters at College. An I do not have enough tuiton to complete the rest of my College education right now. I was thinking of going to the Military. Would the military background, and a few years at college help for looking into a job for law enforcement? Thanks for the input.
