Yes, you have to go to college. DEA may be a little easier physically than SWAT.

It is detective, not dective. You really need to have good English skill to be a police officer because so much of the job is communicating. As a police officer you start out as a general patrol officer and then after some time you can apply to be a detective (criminal investigations). Also after some patrol experience you can apply to the swat team, they interview and select candidates that are best for the job (same thing goes for the drug unit).
Which job is easier? I guess that would depend on the point of view of the person doing it. All of them have special challenges.
You don't need college to be a police officer in Canada, but there aren't too many that are hired without some sort of post-secondary degree.

Obviously there are not many people in law enforcement answering this question. Many people on police departments today get promoted because of being a minority or sex. Often times it is not the best person for the job but the best that meets quota standards. Ask most police officers this question and they will tell you the same. By the way college dosen't make you smart or street wise. My bet is if you had the qualifications (school, age, etc.) to become a police officer that would be adequate for promotion to detective. It is possible that some departments may require additional schooling for promotion to the supervisory ranks (sergeant and above). As far as the DEA go to their website and it will give you all the info you need. By the way don't automatically think that because a person becomes a DEA agent he/she is of higher intelligence. Ever see the video of the agent who shoots himself in the foot while lecturing a class of school children on gun safety?

Thanks for a good laugh. Maybe it's time to stop text-messaging so much, your question is a little too abbreviated.
SWAT - good luck on passing the physical part.
Detective - you have to be a street cop before you can be a detective in most places. That way, you have some experience picking out the good guys from the bad guys. You usually also have to pass exams, and have some political connections in larger city departments.
DEA - Well, since anything I say can and will be used against me, even in a public forum---maybe this IS the 1 4 U.

It depends on the department. Some departments require you to have a college degree to be a law enforcement officer or be prior military. Once you are a law enforcement officer, depending on the department you might need a degree. Or you can test for the position. My department does not require a college degree but at least 3 years road experience.

Yes, most detective positions are earned with time on the police force and at least an associates degree in criminal justice.
In your case I might recommend taking additional English courses. Your vocabulary and spelling need some work.

You have to become an actual police officer to do any of these things. You need to have a degree to be a detective in the force where I work. You also need to attend the police academy to be a full-time officer. You've got a loooong way to go.

You have to go to college to be a police officer.
To be a detective, you will have to get a 4 year degree and possibly a masters in criminology. Learning English may not be a bad idea either.

No, you do NOT have to be a college graduate to be a detective, but you need extensive skills, which comes only from years on the job. You don't just wake up one day, and go ask to be a detective.
