A friend of mine and I got a phone together, the sales person said there were no activition fee and that the phone bill would be $69 dollars a month. My friend and I decided to go ahead and divide the bills to where each of us would pay roughly $40 a month. The first bill was little over $200 I went ahead and paid $100 and he still has not. Everything is in his name. We just got charged $50 late fee. Since I paid my share on time, should I have to pay for the late charge fee as well? Just doesn't sound right. My mother says, 50/50 means just that.
But I paid for my share on time. I personally don't think I should have to pay for late fees. Would I have to legally?

Approximately 200 years ago, France sold the U.S. a large amount of land, including New Orleans, which was built on ground that was sinking. It would have flooded a long time ago if the U.S. had not built levies that held back the Atlantic Ocean until 2005. Contrary to the popular opinion that the levies caused the flooding, the city would have flooded many years earlier if the levies were not built.

Can the U.S. sue France for any or all of the following:
The difference between what New Orleans would have been worth if it was not sinking and what it was actually worth
The damage that would have happened if the levies were never built
The cost of building the levies
The damage that happened when even the levies were not enough

Is there a statute of limitations?
Does the statute of limitations require suit be filed within a certain amount of time of the date of the original transaction, the date that the U.S. became aware of the problem, or the date that the flooding began?

A thought came to me. Even if a person is found criminally insane at the time of the crime (ie. in this case killing 6 family members) When they do their time in a mental assylum should they not carry out their original sentence also? After all they are totally sane now so they must understand if you commit a crime you do the time, no? if they are so sane they would understand why this is - they killed 6 people!!!! This guy could be free in 2 years if he gets off with criminal insanity! That is criminal insanity in itself surely?

Could you someone help me with this? I was charged and arrested for Criminal Damage to Property-2nd degree in 2001. I went to court and it was reduced to Misdemenor--Criminal Trepass. Today, I went to the Local Police Dept and it shows where I was arrested and charged. I served my 7 months probation and paid fine. I need to know what I need to do. Also, since it was reduced to misdemeanor, would it even show up on my report. Made a mistake 6 years ago and never thought it would hunt me. Thanks to all the people that answer.

I work in a group of 3 that report to 3 different VPs. One of my coworkers dated my VP for a year, broke up and now have a VERY personal relationship. I know they still engage in "pillow talk." She told me that she talks about me and my performance to him but it's all positive (even though Iasked her to stop.) When he can't find me for an answer, he goes directly to her about my work. On top of that, she is extremely confrontational and can be hostile. I feel like I have to constantly mindful of what she is saying to him (and others) and what he says to her. Someone told me that I have a hostile work environment? Do I and if so, what can I do??

Please can someone clarify - what exactly is the law regarding leaving babies and children alone, whether at home or on holiday in a foreign country? I cannot believe that it is within the boundaries of the law to leave 2 and 3 year old children alone unless you are in the next room.

Restating question because it was hard to follow.

About a year ago I purchased a piece of electronic equipment from best buy. with a two year store warranty

In the meantime the manufacturer boosted the warranty to 3 yrs

A month ago it broke
I called the manufacturer tech service and they asked for the serial number and advised me that it was totally broken and that they would send me an empty box for returning it.
I told them that i had a store warranty and they told me to just throw away the box when it arrived.

I did not send it to the manufacturer, I brought it back to Best Buy.
I received a new one free of charge because of my store warranty.
I assume that Best buy sent the defective back to the manufacturer for a replacement because it was still under the manufacturer's warranty.
Yesterday I received a new item in the mail by Fed-Ex
(no one signed for it)
I now assume that it was an internal mistake at the manufacturer's and I wondered if they would be able to charge me.

Heres the story, My BF and I broke up 9 months ago and i had called the cops for a restraining order, only because thats what i needed to get him off my lease, so the cops came and decided that they want me to press domestic assault charges, even tho there wasnt an assault, just a huge fight...well i seen the police report, which is ALL untrue, and now ive been sopeona'd to testify against him...well 1, we're back together again, and 2, i dont want any part of it and wont say what the report says, so im wondering what will happen in court to him if i dont show up and what legal action can be brought up against me if i dont show up.
