Yesterday I got a ticket for supposedly having part of my car in the "handicap hatch cross". The "cross hatch" is the blue grid the extends out from a handicap spot. I took photos of my car, clearly showing it not touching any of the blue whatsoever. I've contacted the city of LA Parking Bureau asking to directly meet with someone and show them the proof, email someone, etc. They've told me that if I want to contest my ticket I have to FIRST PAY THE TICKET before they'll even consider doing a "hearing" for my case. I think the majority of people will agree with me that paying the ticket before anything is determined is practically admitting guilt. I asked a supervisor to read me the code telling WHY this is required and all she could find is some code saying "before a hearing payment is required" completely not addressing WHY this is necessary.

Is there anyway to have someone look at my proof of innocence without having to pay the fine first? Also is what they're doing legal?

sex offender in community? Lately I have been reading a lot in the news about sex offenders in my area. And in one town all offenders had to report to the police office between 5 and stay till 10 pm on halloween. So I decided to check the local register and there are 60 in my zip code. Then I discovered that there was one registered two doors down from me.
I feel that this information should have been disclosed to me before I signed a lease. I have a small child to think about.

So is this something that should be disclosed to tenants, and or buyers when looking for a place to live?

And don't tell me if I don't like it move, because I plan on moving at the end of the month, and have done my own research now for where I am moving to.

I respect anyone who volunteer to fight in the war to fight for their country. But I was wondering, why don't we send criminals out there to fight in wars? What do you think about giving that as a sentence instead of going to jail? Would it depend on the crime? I feel that at least they will be fighting for a cause and not sitting in jail for free. Once they serve their term in the war which mean they paid their debt to society and they can become citizens again. I believe it will also prevent less crime in the US if they sentence criminals to go to war. Do you know of any countries that does this?

I've been working for this company for over 10 years now and all of the sudden they have cut my hours in half and their not supplying me with the materials I need to perform my job satisfactorly. No matter who I complain to, like my Union or my Supervisior, no one will lisren or they just don't give a damn. Also, they have started firing employees who have been there for years and these employees have'nt had any problems at work in the past. In their place, They're hiring workers who are illegal immigrants who I guess are working for a smaller paycheck. I'm worried about my job status, how much longer do I have? Please help.

My ex & I don't have a custody order for our 2 kids, he just went & filed court papers to get it set in stone. He's requesting 50/50 everything because he refuses to help me financially w/ the kids. He lives at home w/ his parents (29 yrs.old) & they support him financially. His parents even gave him the 300 to file the court papers. He told me that if I want him to help me, that I need to give him a list of what all my bills are and where extactly all my money is going, I have an apt. for the kids so I carry all household bills & things they need. He also said that he doesn't want to hear that I'm going out w/ my friends, if I'm bearly making it, I should stay home but my friends no I'm tight & they invite me,He said I need to prove to him that I need help in order for him to want to help me, I think he's still trying to control me & doesn't want me out so that I don't possibly meet someone else. I think he's still jealous & I shouldn't have to prove all that to him right?

Justin Ellsworth was a Marine who gave his life for his country. By all accounts he was a brave and fine Marine and we all owe him the highest debt of gratitude. But we were also left with a serious question, what to do with his email? His parents wanted access. They wanted to see what their son had to say. However, email is a private sort of thing. Yahoo, his email provider, had a terms of service agreement with him. And while we sympathize greatly with his parents, there is also a precedent to be concerned about. One can't simply waive away the privacy issue as a decision to release the information could have serious consequences for email privacy for us all. So the issue needs to be discussed, thought through, and resolved. That is why we have cases like this in a class like this, so we can think these things through and try to respect the family, the deceased, and the needs of society. So I ask you:

My childrens father and I have come to terms concerning visitation and modification in child support...can we prepare a letter of agreement, making our own changes to the existing order, sign, notarize and have it stand up in court, (just in case one of us has a change of heart,)as opposed to the exspense of lawyers, and going back into the courts. We're just basically changing visits to fit into the childrens schedule as they get older and more activities come up. In exchange for him agreeing to different schedule, he'd like a decrease in the amount of the child support he pays.

When someone is being swore into office or sworn to tell the truth in court, they put their hand on a bible. The religious person is supposedly going to tell the truth or else face eternal damnation for lying whilst swearing this oath, but the atheist may as well swear on a copy of "The Great Gatsby". I am never going to be absolutly sure that someone who claims to believe in God will tell the truth (50% chance they will or they won't), but there is a 100% chance that someone who has no divine fear is going to tell the truth by swearing on a bible that holds no moral obligation to their soul. I guess I could have 'faith' that someone will do the right thing, but from posts on this website, I have been assured that 'faith' is a luxury no atheist can afford. What to do?

There's this middle ages fat nasty nosy butt person that I used to work with who absolutely drove everyone crazy she worked with. She we constantly talk about and tell everyone who she was the boss of and how she could approve whether or not people could take time off. She would occupy most of her day simply walking around seeing what everyone was doing, taking the long way back to her office and sticking her head in my office sometimes 20 times a day saying the same thing "are we having fun yet", "is it nap time" etc. She would exaggerate things, like if we would come in from lunch at 1:05 it would be like 1:15 or 1:20. There were at least two people fired basically because she didn't get along with them and one was pregnant. The one who was pregnant was calling in due to morning sickness, but this ***** didn't even tell her supervisor why she was calling in before they let her go. She has had sexual harassment cases against her and is still employeed, her manager condones it.

compare this to the issue of the laws against smokers. Smokers are banned from smoking in public because it is a danger for people to be around second hand smoke. It is a known fact that it is also a life threatening danger for people with peanut and tree nut allergies to be exposed to these products. Do you think they will eventually come out with a law that will ban eating peanuts and tree nuts unless you are in your own home? Why or why not?
Thanks for your mature answers.

This person or group of this type of thinking are the people you need to line up and shoot dead. Tell the mexicans to go back to their own country and form a Revolution of their own first and change their government. Meanwhile all those who are illegal will be treated as such. illegal means nobody can prosecute you for raping their daughters and spitting on them, get them when they are sleeping, use them for bait, and catch a really big marlin. Two birds with one stone. lol...

America is being run into the ground right now by The United States Government, we are at war with people that haven't done anything to us, a young man is being tasered by police in Fla. just for asking a damn question of John Kerry, we are exporting natural resources in record numbers and importing goods in record numbers, things we could manufacture here. We have more debt than all of the major countries combined, we are in debt to Mexico by 40 billion dollars and folks are rambling about immigration? Are you people stupid?Wake up America. America is no longer #1 at anything but debt. Wake up. It is time for a revolution folks. Get your guns while you still can and equip yourself with a copy of the constitution and REVOLT or die in a work camp!
