Provisional driver license restrictions during the first year
After you pass your driving test, you will be issued a provisional driver license. With your provisional driver license, you must be accompanied and supervised by a licensed parent, guardian or other licensed driver 25 years of age or older, or by a licensed or certified driving instructor when you:
* Transport passengers under 20 years of age at any time, for the first twelve months.
* Drive between 11 pm and 5 am for the first twelve months.
This means you cannot give anyone under 20 years old (your friends, your brother(s), sister(s), cousin(s), etc.) a ride unless you have a licensed parent, a guardian or other adult 25 years old or older in the car with you. You are also not allowed to drive between 11 pm and 5 am during your first year after getting your license unless you have a licensed parent, a guardian or other adult 25 years old or older in the car with you.
With a provisional license, you can drive by yourself between the hours of 5 am and 11 pm. If you are under 18, you cannot be employed to drive a motor vehicle.
When you turn 18 years of age, the provisional part of your license ends. You may continue to drive as an adult using your photo license, which will expire on your 5th birthday after the date you applied.

What are you talking about.....? If you're talking about driver's license then, yes as soon as you get your license you are a legal driver. If you're speaking of a "learner's permit" again... you can drive immediately but only with an licensed driver over 21 in the automobile. I've never heard of a six month wait when you receive a driver's license. It's almost frightening... How can you demonstrate the best of driving when you're halted for six months. But to be sure ....don't ask us.... Call your DPS, your driver's license division.

Here in Texas, I know you can drive family members having your license, as many as can fit into the vehicle, but you can only have 1 friend with you. After the 6 months you can drive anyone.

What do you mean? If you have a regular license, you can drive around anyone you wish. From your grandmother to Mickey Mouse. If you are asking if you can break the curfew if it's a Cinderella license, i doubt it. Family or not, obide by the state rules for which you live and the state rules for any other state you may visit. Read your handbook or call your local DMV for any questions you have.
Good luck

Well, it depends on the state. In Indiana, I know that you aren't supposed to drive anybody under the age of like 18 or 21 or something for the first few months, and you could drive yourself, but I'm not sure. The laws are likely different based on where you are.

why would you have to wait 6 months to drive if you have you license?
once you get your license you can drive home from the drivers place.
when you get your premit you can only drive with some one in the passenger seat who is 21 or older.
and then you have to wait 6 months after you get your permit til you can get your license.

The rules are different in each state.
Its impossible to answer your question without knowing which state you live in and that's not a good thing to tell everyone on the Internet.
Ask a driver's education teacher at your school.
Or when you get home, call the business office of your local police dept and ask them.

Unless your state law says other wise or you are talking about some kind of provisional license, once you are granted a regular license by the state, you drive who you chose

If you have a permit, but not your full license you can get a special permission to do important things like that or going to work, but once you have a full license, you can drive whoever you wan, where ever you want.

In Jersey, until you are 18 you are only allowed one non-family member but allowed unlimited family members but only if they live in the same house as you.
Your friend's mom sounds like an idiot. You can write a note and change laws
