I've been working for this company for over 10 years now and all of the sudden they have cut my hours in half and their not supplying me with the materials I need to perform my job satisfactorly. No matter who I complain to, like my Union or my Supervisior, no one will lisren or they just don't give a damn. Also, they have started firing employees who have been there for years and these employees have'nt had any problems at work in the past. In their place, They're hiring workers who are illegal immigrants who I guess are working for a smaller paycheck. I'm worried about my job status, how much longer do I have? Please help.

Under Illinois state and Federal laws the only bases for discrimination are: age, sex, race, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, marital and military status. SEE www.eeoc.gov If you believe that you have been discriminated against due to one of these bases, then you have a case -- otherwise you are wasting your time filing a complaint.

Your union should be backing you up on supplying the materials you need. If your union is not following their duties, as listed in your union contract, you can file a complaint against the union at www.nlrb.gov Cutting hours and supplying materials are not considered discrimination UNLESS it is be cause you qualify under one of the above bases.

In order file a complaint you should go to the Illinois Department of Human Rights http://www.state.il.us/dhr/ for an interview. They will write up a formal/legal complaint that will be sent to the employer.

WORD OF WARNING: Filing a legal complaint against your employer can get you fired. If that happens you can then file another complaint for retaliation. There is no law that will force an employer to re-hire you or to keep you employed.

If they are hiring Illegal immigrants, anonomusly call ICE and have them raid the place one day.
By hiring Illegals, they are aiding and Abettign Criminals, so you can call the police afterwards to arrest the people doing the hiring,

If it is happening to a lot of employees, then it is not discrimination. If an employer wants to run off his good employees and replace them, he is well within his rights to run his company into the ground if he wants to.
