I know the Patriot Act is a powerful weapon to prevent terrorist attacks, which obviously any reasonable person would support. My fear, however, is that it can be extended to any law enforcement agency to catch anyone who commits any crime no matter how insignificant, which could lead our government down the road of fascism.

In U.S. if two persons speak on the phone "let's explode a car" and government records it, they can sue you as a conspiracy act. This behavior is the same on the Switzerland country and under Swiss Penal Code? Thanks!

But didn't the guy that funded going after Clinton just get busted going to a hooker for years- yes- and the San Diego Congressman - off to jail...and better not mention Scooter Libby's porno writing, oh and the Ted Haggart guy -cured?, and um, Foley, and, the Mormon guy who just got sent to prison, and the Speaker of the House who had an affair and had to step down- whats his name? and Dik's daughter-lesbian, and the Larry Craig incident.. I know I'm forgetting someone- no, not Rush with his Oxycontin ("all druggies should go to prison") and his Bahama Viagra trip. or Tom Delay and the chinese girls sweat shops on American islands-
dang! too many to recall- help me remember a few more?

Um.. i claim "executive priveledge" "I just don't recall" uh... "Mistakes were made"
"Military operations have ended"
uh... "what about the pig?"

We live in a system in which you are innocent until proven guilty. Because of this criminals sometimes get away with crimes they have committed. Do you think that we should keep this system or change to a philosophy of guilty until proven innocent?

As far as I can remember, it used to be a legal requirement for petrol stations to allow bona fide travellers use of toilet facilities...I had to stop at one today and ask to use the toilet, but I was refused access. They had no public facilities and would not let me use the staff one on Health and Safety grounds. Since I'd been driving quite a while and was in an area I was unfamiliar with, it left me in a very difficult situation. Fortunately I found a pub quite close by (and just in time!), but this was just luck. Surely this situation cannot be acceptable?
Does anyone know if I have grounds for complaint or am I just being fussy?

This past week it has been a lot noisier than usual from the neighbor who is below me (I live in an apartment). The TV has been on loud and I've heard lots of banging noises. For the past few days I have heard a child crying constantly... then I hear an adult woman screaming. I have already called the leasing office and they said they would take care of it. At first I thought the child was locked in alone or something but then i began hearing an adult voice yelling.
When I have seen the child outside playing, she is pretty little and pretty rambunctious... she may be a handful, but the noises really bother and scare me.
After I called the office I was vacuuming and they started banging on the ceiling to tell me to stop... I am wondering if they suspect it was me who called the office. What do I do, do I call the office again? Should I call the police? How do I deal with their wrath?

I was reading in my local paper how a party got busted. Some were under 18, some 18, 19, and 20, and a couple over 21. It seems that the 18-20 years olds got the short end of the stick. They got charged with underage drinking and contributing to the deliquency of a minor. This means they will receive a greater punishment/fines than those over 21 who were only charged with contributing. Is this the law in most states in the U.S.? Do you feel this is fair? Don't get me wrong, they were breaking the law - but, come on...

This marriage counsellor while saying don't hit hard the wives admits that children can be beaten severely
""He must beat her where it will not leave marks. He should not beat her on the hand... He should beat her in some places where it will not cause any damage. He should not beat her like he would beat an animal or a child -- slapping them right and left."

I have been going to the doctors a lot with workers comp and have a bad relationship with my boss who is leaving the company and harasses me a lot. I have a bladder infection and when I got to work today the HR manager asked for my prescription receipt to verify I went to pick up my prescription. Isn't there something called patient confidentially? I also was unable to pick it up b/c my doctor wanted to talk to me first due to results and the tests took. Any comments and suggestions?

I let my friend Rachel borrow my TV because she didn't have one at her new place. That was back in may. I have been asking for it back since end of August and she keeps giving me the run around. Her phone # is changed and she has moved. Is it a lost cause or can I report it stolen?

I was told that photos proving my innocence will not even be looked at without paying for my parking ticket first. I've read several forums and what not saying to not pay the ticket and to just write them a letter with the photos showing I was legally parked.

Is it pointless to send them the letter/photos w/o paying the fine first? Will they really not even look at my proof/letter if I haven't paid the fine yet? BTW this is in Los Angeles.

My car was improperly towed. I took the towing company to court and won the case by default. Next they appealed the ruling, and I won by default again. The company has been dragging this out as long as possible. Now it is time to collect the towing fees and court fees from them that they owe me. I have all the papers that state how much they owe me, and that I have won the case. Do you know how I can collect? Please help - this has been going on for over 4 months! Thank you

1 Talk show icon David Letterman thinks so and he brought out many examples while speaking to Dr. Phil in his latest Late Show with David Letterman!
2 A candidate in the forthcoming presidential polls thinks the incumbent President George Bush is mentally ill for casually mentioning the possibility of third world war by saying ‘I have told people that if you are interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing (Iran) from having the knowledge to make a nuclear weapon’!
3 The Idaho senator pleading guilty first for his misbehavior in a public toilet and then withdrawing his plea but one wonders if common sense prevails in the American judicial system which thought itfit to accept it!
4 With frequent campus shooting incidents, places of education appear to be fast becoming unsafe for learning but turning into breeding grounds of terrorism!

Last December my car was towed away from my apartment complex. (My tags were stolen and apparently it was routine for the towing company to remove illegal cars from the complex parking lot.) The thing is, when I called the towing company, they had no record of ever towing my car. I called all the city impounds and my car wasn't there either. So I called the police and my car was never reported as being towed or impounded. So then I tried to report my car stolen to the police and they said that it was a civil case and that I had to sue the apartment complex. I need some legal advice!!! Has this ever happened to anyone else????
