I have been going to the doctors a lot with workers comp and have a bad relationship with my boss who is leaving the company and harasses me a lot. I have a bladder infection and when I got to work today the HR manager asked for my prescription receipt to verify I went to pick up my prescription. Isn't there something called patient confidentially? I also was unable to pick it up b/c my doctor wanted to talk to me first due to results and the tests took. Any comments and suggestions?

HR can require you to prove that the time you missed was covered my FMLA or workers comp.

They can ask for a letter from your pharmacist stating that you did appear in his pharmacy to pick up your meds. That's all. They have absolutely no right to know what your meds were (which may be printed on the receipt), what they cost or what they were for. They could even ask your doctor to confirm that he wants to see you again before releasing your prescription. You do NOT have to show them your prescription. Your medical health and treatment is a matter of privacy and HR has no right to demand that you disclose that information to them for any reason.

I dont see why it would be a problem, if they drug tested you and found certain script drugs in your system, they could even then ask you to verify your prescritpion to show its legal for you to be taking those drugs.

Did your doctor give you a paper script? Show them that and let them know you havent picked up the meds yet

Ahhh what an idiot!!!! D: Well, since I don't work, I'll go with one of my teachers. I would dedicate "Crazy B*tch" by Buckcherry. Just the title though, not the actual meaning of the song... lol ew. bq: (Just Like) Starting Over, and Instant Karma :] bq2: Grease

"I'm sorry Mr. HR but my medical situation is my private business. If you're looking for verification that I was late to work for a good reason, say so and I'll provide it."

That just doesn't sound right... I mean your script is your business and NOT the business of your employer.. If you were late than you were late.. .Try NOT to be late again.... It's NONE of HR's business of your whereabouts just that you weren't at work when you were supposed to be... End of story..

Give them a Dr. Letter instead and tell them that is all they get unless you give them permission.
