I was told that photos proving my innocence will not even be looked at without paying for my parking ticket first. I've read several forums and what not saying to not pay the ticket and to just write them a letter with the photos showing I was legally parked.

Is it pointless to send them the letter/photos w/o paying the fine first? Will they really not even look at my proof/letter if I haven't paid the fine yet? BTW this is in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, you still have to pay the fine and then deal with proving your innocence. It's a pain, but that's the way it is.

The good thing of course is that if you're found innocent you get your money refunded. But this has long struck me as being the antithesis of "innocent until proven guilty."

I think my previous answer to your nearly identical earlier question. You pay the fine. It serves as your promise to appear. If you beat the ticket then you get the money back. It's like bail; you don't plead guilty by posting bail.

Something to think about, many departments take pictures of the parking infraction. if they do that in my little town of 50,000 people I'll bet they do it in LA. If you moved you car and then took pictures as "evidence" you were not improperly parked the judge could charge you with perjury for your troubles.

Well unless your pictures are unalterably time and date stamped for the time of the alleged violation and they also provide verification that the car was in the same spot that was ticketed, you are wasting your time. Without that sort of documentation the only use those pictures have will be as lining for the bottom of the canary cage.

Yes, it is pointless. No judge will ever see it.

Make the payment as requested by the court clerk. Get a trial date. Take all of your evidence to court. If you win, you will get your money back.

Please at least read the answers to the question you already posted on this topic. If you have additional details, put them in your first question.

you can always contest the ticket, don't pay, show up on the day for your court hearing then prove your side of the story.
