I am a single mother of a 4 year old daughter who has a deadbeat for a father. He's left her life and has never looked back when she was only 1 1/2...well, unless I force him to see her. Anyway my fear lately is if something happens to me I don't want her to go to him. I'm looking into writing a will and listing gaurdians for her, but even the lawyer told me that doesn't always guarantee anything. How do I go about legally getting full costody of her and having his rights to her gone? His name is on the birth certificate and I do have a child support order on him but he ignores it. At this point I realize I'll probably never see a dime and I'm okay with that...I just want my little girl safe. He's in and out of jail, bounces from place to place and can never hold a job. Please help!

I got into an agreement and paid some money. On the rescission section it says.......This agreement may only be canceled by sending written notice notification of cancellation to_______ and must be postmarked by midnight of the third calander day from the date of the agreement.

Does this means that if done I will get my money back?
What would be the thrid calander day from 12 OCT.2007?

Why is it like that? What do *I* get out of it? If I don't personally benefit from it, why should I be forced to participate? If my benefit is not immediate, isn't it wrong? Should I apply this outrage to that other thing where I benefit at the expense of others? Cause I never consider that, its just not important.

I live in Chicago and there are currently two local taxing bodies who are proposing a host of new taxes, the city of chicago and cook county. Both governments are proposing massive tax increases. As a citizen, what recourse do I have? Can I conscientiously object and not pay without getting into trouble? Is there any system of oversight that would limit the amount of taxation? I mean what do we do when our local governments decide stuff like this. It seems like there is no choice but to complain and pay it.

But, I was wondering, if there are any laws against younger children (babies, toddlers, young children), from even going into the room with the tanning bed. It seems like they would give off enough rays to be harmful even in the room. If anyone can help, thanks, or tell me where I might be able to find more information.

My mother passed away last year. I was talking to a friend who suggested that I check for any unclaimed funds from her estate. I didn't find any from my mother, but I did find one from my great-aunt. But to claim it, I have to prove I am related to her. Is this close enough relationship and how can I prove I'm her great-niece?
