I do know the man lost the pants suit, but the owners of the cleaners went broke , the lawyers bled them dry and they had to sell their business

That's the nature of civil lawsuits -- some are ridiculous, and some are actually worse than that -- they are legally frivolous.
Here, from what I've seen -- the flowers were not what she ordered -- that's a valid legal claim under the UCC (and similar laws) -- the AMOUNT of the damages might be ridiculous, but the actual suit itself is probably legally valid.
Remember, the amount of damages asked for is not always what the person gets -- she may win, and still only get paid back in damages whatever she paid the florist in the first place -- which would be the proper result under the UCC and similar laws.

I agree - it's ridiculous.
Institute a rule where the loser pays the attorney fees of the other party and these lawsuits will stop.

Uhh - yeah. You do know the fool who brought the suit about the pants lost, don't you? You can sue anybody, any time, for anything. Ain't no guarantee you're going to win anything other than scorn, however...
