My ex was given the truck in the divorce settelment. The fiance company called me a month after the divorce was final and told me the truck was 8 months behind on payments and they were going to take leagle action against us. I called my ex's brohter to have him tell her about it. He told me the truck was in Calafornia, and gave me his brothers number. I called him and he told me they sent out certified letters to me, my ex and to the finance company telling us to come and pick it up they do not want it. I never received it. He also told me he had storage, and mechanic fees attached to it. I told him to let me konw what it is and I will pay him and get the truck. After 3 weeks of him not returning my calls I let my lawyer handel it. My lawyer called and he was told he put a mechanics lean on it and sold the truck for $3500. But there is $26K owed on it.
Can this be done with out me being notified?
Any input on this whould be very helpful.

a good friend/practically family asked for help to purchase a house. She has a good job and makes good money. To make a long story short, she begged me to help her to purchase a house under my name (alone) and she will be responsible for all payments pertaining to the house. A written agreement was made and signed but not notarized. I find out after 6 months into the agreement that she had neglected the payments and now the house is foreclosed. I have this huge bill from the mortgage bank and a ruined credit. I have to file for bankruptcy as well. Because of this problem, it had brought me emotional turmoil and financia set back! What can i do? HELP ME!

Whoopi Goldberg tried to justify on "The View" today (her first day) that what Michael Vick did with his dog-fighting enterprise was similar to Puerto Rican and their cock-fighting (first off, if a white man had said that, he'd be run off TV), in that it's indictiative to the part of the country he comes from. So's marrying your first cousin, but it doesn't make it right.

Being sued for contract dispute in wagon trail resort campgrounds where I was pressed into signing a contract by misrepresentation of winning a car, then was hard pressed by sales person into signing a campground contract that I never used nor changed my mind about three days after signing it. I feel that the campground did a bait and switch and now am trying to defend myself against their attorney's who are saying that I owe over $6,000.00 for something that I never used nor agreed to purchase, but nevertheless I signed the contract after being pressed into it. What are my options here besides defending myself as best I can

I would like to know where there is a site to see the law. Bill collectors are very arrogant and many times don't have their facts straight.
I believe they are in violation of some law and just risk not getting caught. Anyone n\know for sure ?

This is the background of my situation: I responded to an ad for a room for rent. I met the girl, liked the place and told her I would move in. I gave the landlord $80 for deposit. I gave the girl $350 for rent, that she would deposit on the first of Aug, (as good faith money), even though I wouldn't be moving in till the 15th. No lease was signed. I was to sign when i moved in. I told her to HOLD THE CHECK UNTIL I MOVE IN. Unfortunately, I changed my mind due to certain circumstances. I told her a week before, that i wouldn 't be moving in. I know, bad on my part, but things happen. The landlord deposited my deposit check, so that was lost. I cancelled my check for $350, since I would not be moving in. Now, after many hostile emails from her, she is telling me that she is going to file papers for small claims court for the $350.

Will this stand in court since there is no written documentation and no witnesses...and I verbally told her to hold the check till I moved in.

She only stated that he was raised in the deep south where dog fighting is more common. I didn't hear her say he should be pardoned because he was a product of his environment. If you were raised in a country that believed in cannibalism, and moved to America and continued to practice you would be charged according to our laws. Living in the deep south, they know it's illegal but do it anyway. Vick would have learned that in his upbringing sooner or later. It's not an excuse, nor a reason to get out of trouble. What do you think?

Copying music can land you in court and with heavy fines. I'm all for respecting the work and talent of artists but what is the real deal with copying music? I mean the VCR was produced with the intent of copying television programming, audio cassettes were used similarly. So what is the real issue of copying music and where is the line between legal and illegal?

How would one go about pressuring the government into banning parking fees for medical building lots/structures? I think it is horrible that you have to drag yourself to a doctor, pay doctors fees, pay insurance, and then oh yeah, you owe 5 dollars because you were 31 minutes in the lot instead of 30 to get a freebie.
