if it was a caution you should be okay, the CRB looks at convictions and if there was no further action then you were not convicted of any crime.

An 'enhanced' disclosure WILL show up anything like this - if you remember the Soham murders, Ian Huntley had been questioned over a number of incidents but never charged or cautioned. These should have shown up in his CRB check but the police force where he used to live didn't upload the info.

I knew someone recently who was arrested but then released after his girlfriend alleged he assaulted her but then withdrew the complaint. It showed up on a CRB two years later and he didn't get the job he'd applied for, working with vulnerable kids.

NO, only cautions & convictions will show up. There are 2 types of CRB check:-

Standard - checks against the PNC, will show all cautions & convictions (even if 'spent') you have recieved in your entire life.

Enhanced - like the Standard only that they also send a request to ALL police forces in the UK for any 'local' information/intelligence on you. I.e. there is an investigation against you which hasn't been dropped nor have you been convicted of it yet.

Either way, you will recieve a copy of this disclosure for your records, what you see on your copy, is exactly whats written on your employers copy.

only convictions attained in a court of law will show up on a CRB check. cautions/motoring offences etc will not be entered into the persons criminal record as these are not criminal convictions...to the poster above-CRB (criminal records bureau) checks are required when working with children/vulnerable adults to ensure the applicant has no convictions especially of a violent or sexual nature. there is also an "advanced" check in which the PNC (police national computer) is also checked for records regarding the applicant.
