And you thought she would be less loony than Rosie. She is just parrotting the NAACP - don't ya know - there's different rules for them. First they were comparing it to hunting. They have so few role models they have to really spread the propaganda when one messes up.

It's totally wrong!! They were talking about this on the radio this morning and they made a valid point, which I'll try to replicate as accurately as possible: "Everyone knows theres murder in Compton but it doesn't make it okay or excusable."
Besides, Vick isn't from the "Deep South." He's from eastern Virginia. And no, we Virginians do not believe dog fighting is okay or a way of life. It's obvious that nationwide Americans believe dog fighting is wrong, not to mention it's illegal in all 50 states. If that weren't the case the whole "Deep South" would've been up in arms defending him.
I usually love Whoopi, but I don't know what she was smoking before getting on the View. Where did she come up with these ideas??? If she wanted to defend Vick, she should've focused on the fact that he's trying to mend his ways and do more good and humanitarian things.

Whoopi is ignorant. I am from the South and can assure you that dogfighting is not second-nature here! It is cruel and a crime. Vick is a low-life, just like OJ, Lindsay Lohan, and all of the other celebs that forget that they, too, are American citizens and are bound by laws. Vick is so lucky to have all of the money and fame; why not put his "power" to good use instead of becoming a criminal? This is proof that money cannot buy common sense. People need to stop playing the race card. Whether someone is black, white, purple, or green is irrelevant; YOU DO THE CRIME YOU DO THE TIME! If you or I were involved in dogfighting, you'd better believe the law would come after us!

I don't watch the View because I do not value the opinions of the women who sit on the panel. Just because someone or a class of people submit to certain actions, it doesn't mean that it's OK. Murderers kill, but should we let them go because they belong to a subclass of people? I believe Vick knew what he was doing and he knew in his heart that it was wrong. He did it for a while because no one stopped him. When he was caught, I don't believe he was suddenly enlightened that it might just be wrong to be pitting dogs against each other, or using creative ways in killing the dogs that didn't perform to his expectations. I think he was well aware that what he was doing was wrong and illegal from the start. Had he not been stopped, I wonder how long before the dogfighting would lose its appeal and what would replace the dogs?

grips, chill. Whoopi is in the Hot Seat at the View. The Hot Seat meaning she is going to see things on the other side of the coin. You will find she is going to keep the playing field level on both side. Pros and Cons. I feel she pleaded ignorance (Mr. Vick) to our American ways of life. These things also go on in the deep south. lol Still illegal. We get a lot of races from all over the world and with it comes their way of life. I disagree!! If you come to the USA you sure should study our laws and learn our language. So no dog sandwiches or killing your wife. If I were in another Country do you think for one moment, lets say Mexico, wouldn't Jail me if I broke one of their laws. I'd sit there till I rotted. Lets just remember the Seat is Hot and this is just the beginning. My feelings are if you treat an animal that way what else will you treat that way when no ones looking. He said he's sorry and is being punished as harshly as any one else in Hollywood. I agree with you it sure isn't right for any of them.

WRONG. They both should be ashamed of themselves. Not only is Vick a bully and abuser, he is a LIAR. Even when caught he didn't have the balls to admit it, a sure sign you know your actions are wrong.
I don't watch the view as none of those women represent or could ever speak for me. Why does anyone care what a bunch of out of touch old bats think.
Whoopi and Rosie are just added nuts to the peanut gallery.

Looks like Whoopi is going to fit in just fine with the rest of the air head women who host The View. Did Whoopi also justify Vick's blatant lying to his coaches and the NFL commissioner. Or maybe she's impressed because Vick has... all of a sudden... found Jesus.
YAWN.

Until I see an actual transcript, I'm not going to leap to the conclusion that Golberg was excusing Vick. All her comments could also be made to simply explain him, and there is a difference. Did she actually say, "You can't blame him?" If she did, then shame on her. But a Google search has only shown me reprints of the same article, over and over, and that's not enough to go on.
As for the other statement, you do realize she was speaking of rooster fighting, right?

Im from the south(deep south) and to be honest dog fighting is like the thing down here nobody really cares too much for their dogs their just competitors and when their time is up they put them down by any means. Its hard for other communities to fathom they find it easy to believe that vick is just a low life who kill dogs. He is from a area where its a way of life i know because I lived there.

I like how Newport News, VA is considered the "deep south". Very little of the state of Virginia is really considered the deep south (except by overpaid talking heads and washed up celebrities on psuedo-news shows).
I grew up in one of the poorest, least developed regions in the state (southwest VA), and even there, dog fighting was never considered a part of our "culture". My brother lives in the southern part of South Carolina (alot more deep south than VA ever was), and its not accepted there either. I guess I just get a little pissed at southern stereotypes.

The View is not the news. Although I like the show, I also realize that its more about opinion/ gossip than fact. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter what it may be. So lay off of Whoopi, I still dig her alot.
