She has never had a ticket before and has a clean dmv record. The cop said she was speeding, but it was only like 5 miles over. She was ticketed for not having a license with a current address! Her license is up for renewal in a few weeks, when she will be moving and she did not want to change it to the current address, then have to change it again when she moves, so she let it stay at a previous adress, and the colp cited her. Can she fight this in court, and is it even worth the hassle? Was the cop being a "hiney"?

I received a traffic ticket in Philadelphia last Friday (Aug. 31) for making a prohibited left turn. The cost is $117.50 and I am wondering if I should fight it. The "No Turns" sign was displayed next to the traffic light, but I just didn't see it. I live in NJ and usually commute via train, and so I was somewhat unfamiliar with driving in the city, and this intersection was the only one on my route (both daily and specific to that day) where you are not able to make the left turn, so without seeing the sign it didn't occur to me that the turn would be prohibited. The cop was kind of rude (though I know that doesn't really make a difference) and I was courteous and cooperative throughout the process. I have a 100% clean driving record since I started driving 6 years ago and this was the first time I'd ever even been pulled over. The cop did not even run my license to know that my history was clean.

Would you fight this ticket? If so, any advice for how I can do it? Thanks!

Last night, I was in my brother's car, and he was pulled over for speeding. He basically admitted it to the cop, waived his 5th amendment rights, and screwed himself.

The officer also claimed that I tossed something from the vehicle. He told me he was going to find it, and give me a summons, but found nothing. He then told me he had it on camera, but I seriously doubt my door was even in camera view judging by the angle of his car.

I didn't toss anything out the window. That's why he didn't find anything. What I think he saw was me flick the lit portion of a cigarette from the butt. I then put the butt in my pocket. The office4r didn't want to hear me out.

Instead he turned my brother on me by making him think that he had a chance to get out of the ticket, but because I wouldn't admitt to tossing something out the window, he was getting a $375 fine. My brother than said, "Just tell him you threw something out the window!"

I still would not admitt to it.

The Exec. Dir. of a Corp., we'll call Corp. 1, is also the Exec. Dir. of another corp. (Corp. 2) which is under the umbrella of Corp. 1.
These are both non-profit entities. In January, there
was an amendment to the bylaws of Corp. 1, which was to
not allow any real estate transaction of over $200,000
to happen without Board approval and especially
without the knowledge of the Real Estate Committee.
So, fast forward to April and the Exec. Director of
Corp. 1 decided to sell Corp.1's office building to
Corp. 2. This deal was done without a real estate
attorney, was done without board approval (since the
sale of the building was near $1 million and Corp 1
put up $130,000 for Corp 2 to buy the building), was
done without real estate committee approval, and there
were no promissory note or any other agreements made
between Corp.1 and Corp. 2. They closed on the deal but now Corp. 2 might go bankrupt. What could happen with Corp. 1 in this deal?

A woman oswes me $200 in child care. I wrote a paper, stating her name, how much she owes me, and why, and she has signed it. She had until August 31st to pay me, and she didnt, so now i want to take her to court.

The paper i have is just one i wrote myself in black pen. Will it count as prrof? She has signed and dated it.I didnt know if this wil lwork as proof, or if it had to be typed or anything? I also have a witness, my husband, who signed the paper as well.

So pretty much, she signed the paper i wrote stating that she owes me $200 for childcare for the last 2 weeks of August. And the paper is proof that i tried to get her to pay me before having to take her to court.

Should i have a good case?

What should I say whenever the project's judge asks do I have anything else to say? I am in a group and we are working on a project that has to do with John Penn and King George and why King George is prosecuting everybody who signed the Declaration of Independence. I am the defensive attorney and my job is to help John Penn NOT considered guilty for treason. I have already made my point and everything, but I just don't know what else to say. I mean it has to be something different than what I've already said. I've already told them about him, and why he shouldn't be considered guilty. AHHHHHH! I don't know what to do.

"Lee" makes $6.00 an hour and is ordered to pay $514.00 a month for child support and doesn't even get 40 hours on the job. The order come from Illinois and "Lee" lives in Mississippi. "Lee" appealed last year and was given a telephone interview she knew nothing about. 2 of her checks was $0.00 after support was taken out. The child turned 18 in July and is away at college. "Lee" doesn't mind paying the support, but she can hardly get her bills paid. Does anyone know of a lawyer (maybe a legal aid lawyer) that sides with the parent paying support to get it lowered?

A prominent world-wide private hospital system has just inacted a new hiring policy where they have stated that they will not be hiring any new employees that use tobacco. They will test all new applicants using Cotinine test which will detect any and all tobacco in the applicant's body. Those who recieve a positive Cotinine test will not be offered employment, but can reapply after 90-days and will be referred to a free tobacco cessation program paid for by the clinic.

What do you think of this? Is it a form of discrimination? If this gains popularity, what will follow? People who are obese will be denied employment?

I've apparently been undercharged by PowerGen for the last two and a half years - now I've been sent a massive electricity bill. I've been told that I am liable to pay even 'though my meter has been read by their engineer every month for the last two and a half years! I am now extremely worried & distressed as I cannot afford to pay the huge bill. Can anyone please offer me any legal advice? Surely this is their mistake - so they should be held responsible? How does the law work in this situation?
They are now threatening to cut me off unless I sign a form siting responsibilty. Please help!!

I frequently rent/lease cars and property in the UK and whenever I rent something I always have to sign all pages in the Terms and Conditions. I recently rented a car and after my rental the car hire company want to apply an administration charge which is not on my signed Terms and Conditions. They are citing a clause in my signed terms and conditions that I agree to any other terms and conditions the company may impose. Can they legally do this and is it enforceable?

How do I report email fraud in the UK?

I'm looking for a place to rent but I'm getting a lot of fairly legitmate looking emails about non-existent places to rent. They include real information like actual address and photos.

People could easily become victims of this and post off a deposit (and never hear of the apartment again)

What email address can I forward these to in the UK?

Today's news shows that if children are found roaming the streets while they've been excluded from school, their parents can be fined up to £1,000:

Do you think this is right? What other ways can be used to build a better partnership between parents and children, in order to prevent them from going out while they've been excluded?

It happened a few days ago that Hong Kong policemen were accused for the claimed sex services without paying the hookers or the pimps. To day's headlines (in Oriental Daily news, Chinese edition) accused the policemen of the Hong Kong motor vehicle branch extored cash from drivers by staging crashes by ramming the their car into the vehicle from the rear. They conned almost HK $ 26,000 by this conspiracy defraud. They had made 19 man-made accidents by crashing into12 taxis, one small van, and six sedans. These man-made accidents were begin in June 1, 2005 to February 2006. What a city of Hong Kong it is? They threatened the drivers for cash compensation and all of the victims paid the cashes for avoiding the troubles. I personal opinion that Hong Kong civil servants are soiled for extra high paying salaries, least work, highest pension fund in this world. The sinful Hong Kong chief executive raised his alredy overpaid salary by HK $ 430k per month, four times as Bill Clinton made.
