i want to use my mom's credit card, and she knows. it's ok with her if i forge her signature. if the store finds out, will i get myself into trouble? or is it perfectly fine since the cardholder knows about it?

Forgery under the UCC is the UNAUTHORIZED reproduction of another's signature etc., but to be safe, just sign your name instead of your moms. The name written is irrelevant, especially if you have your mom's consent. It revolves around the intent of the person who owns the account.

Thus, if a forger forges someone else's name on a check, the forger is under the law liable on the check, not the person whose name was forged. The question turns on who signed and whether that person was authorized to do so by the the account owner.

(NOW, go ahead and flag this as a bad answer. I know somebody will. Probably because it is over their head.)

The safest thing to do would be for your Mom to call the credit card company and have you listed as a user. That way you can sign your own name and then it would be perfectly legal.

Since you have permission to use the card, the only
problem I see is if the clerk asks you for ID...

the store would have the right to lift the card if they found out.
