My friend had something stolen from a common area in his apartment - there is a security camera pointed directly on the area it was stolen from. He spoke to the management of the apartment and was told the camera wasn't working - and that this had happened before (something stolen and camera broken). Can he recover damages from the apartment - claiming fraud or liable?

Thanks a lot for your help guys. I'd like to help him out b/c he doesn't have a ton of money and he really needed his laptop.

I got a speeding ticket and my license taken away. It will take about two to three weeks to get it back.

I am 21 and get carded every time I go out with friends. I was wondering if there is a way that I can still go out with my friends for a drink without my driver's license.

If it matters I live in Illinois.

My buddy and i have had this argument. He believes it's a felony, i say misdemeanor? is it either? He was trialed under the UCMJ (uniform conduct of military justice) which is military law, civilians cant be trialed under it, just active military members. He was trialed for conspiracy to larceny (insurance fraud) in a military not civilian court with a military judge. His max sentence could of been 1yr in a military prison, but he only got 4months and kicked out of the military. Is this a Felony, misdemeanor, or neither on his civilian record?

My Uncle is involved in a situation that deals with the 4th Amendment. Evidently someone called the Cops on him for having a noisy dog and that it was also on the loose terrorizing the neighborhood.

The thing is, he doesn't have a dog. The Cops didn't believe him, demanded to be let inside, he refused, the officer threatened to arrest him and he did.

The supervisor was called and so was the Local ASPCA, they entered the house without a warrant and searched his backyard.

They didn't find the dog but get this, they took him to jail for disorderly conduct and gave him a citation for a dog without proper shots and tags. As of now this case is in court and the persecution is arguing that my Uncle did indeed have a dog but let it loose so as to thwart the Cops.

The issue of them illegally entering the premise has yet to brought to light, he's still fighting in court that he never owned a dog and has neighbours to prove it.

My fiance works at a disturbution center in Louisville Kentucky. He has been there for about 4 months or so, he is full time and in the union. He has tendenitis (sp) in both of his arms. He has known about it for a whil but not had insurence until recently to go to the doctor. He has not have a day off in over 3 weeks, his arms are hurting him so bad he can barley lift anything ( which it the major part of his job) He called in today to tell them he was going to the doctor today to have his arms looked at. his boss said " well are you going to be at work?" my fiance told him he didnt know it was all up to what the doctor said. so his boss told him if he did not come in today even if he went to the doctors office and got a doctors note then he was fired. My fiance has never missed a day of work and is one of there better employees. Are they able to tell him he can not miss one day even for a health problem?

...my resume is like the picture of me. This company expected me to change it in order to hand me an application for a job. I think this is wrong. This company may take an investigation on what I said on my resume but not right to request me to type every details what I was doing between two jobs. I felt like they expected me to wear make up and take my picture again to please them. It's ridiculous, isn't it? If you want to verify. Please call 1-888-410-6471 and pretend you are applying jobs with your resume which have a gap of time between two jobs.

My 13 year old sister in law and her friends decided to break into a rival girlfriend's house and vandalize the girl's room and have a party while the girl and her family were away on vacation. I know this is horrible, and i cant believe what are kids are doing these days. The father of the family has decided to press charges. I was wondering what she could be charged with maximum to minimum, and what the penalties are with in the law, maximum to minimum? thanks

p.s. we live in Texas yikes!

Let's say for example a person is 19 and is dating a 12 year old. Yes, gross, I know.

How would they get caught, according to most cases? People who know them rat them out? The little girl's parents find out somehow? Asking out of curiousity.

Well, not exactly.

I recently applied for a job, and I received a call (voice mail, I was away) saying that I passed the initial screening, and they are asking me to come for an interview. The guy left his e-mail address and phone number. Should I respond via e-mail or phone to set up the interview time?

I feel that phone is much more professional. But he also said that he would not be conducting the interview, so I guess, it seems some other guy will have the final say in my job application.

I recently quit a Job at a local newspaper, and have been promised time and time again that I would receive my last paycheck. I have contacted the owner and he has ignored me on almost every occasion. The same goes for another former employee of this company. It's been about a month and a half and I still have not received my check. I was just wondering if there was a way to report this employer and actually see some results.
