On October 19th 2006 My solicitor sent me a copy of a letter from my wifes solicitor saying it was for my attention. There were several things in the letter that I did not understand so I phoned my solicitor for some clarification. I was told that someone would call me back later that day but no one did. I repeated the request the next day and the same thing happened. Over the course of the next 4 weeks I phoned a further 3 times plus sending a letter with my concerns written down. It is now March 6th and I still have not been contacted in any way. Is this the normal way of things for solicitors?. It is the first time I have had any experience of solicitors. I would have thought that 5 phone calls backed up by a letter would warrant some kind of reply.

I lived on a street with terraced houses and everyone parks on the roadside outside their houses and parking is very limited. Someone (I don't think it is one of our neighbours) has left a small trailer there. It is not attached to a vehicle and the number plate stuck on it, is hand written on paper with blue marker pen. Is it legal to leave it there with no car attached? It is really causing a parking problem and no one has been near it for days. Is there any way I can have it removed?

I just discovered that my roomate took money that I gave her for bills, spent the money, and didn't pay the bills for that month. Obviously this is not a person I want to continue living with. I don't necessarily want to go through with police or courts if I don't have to, I just want her to pay the bill and leave. We live in an apartment and my name is on the lease but hers is not. It's a 1-year lease. What exactly is her legal standing? When I tell her to get out, how much time do I legally have to give her? I have seen some sites on the web that say 10 days is legal in Philly if you give written notice, but that seemd to be from landlord to tenant, and I wasn't sure what I could do myself. I want to be sure that I do everything correctly so that she really does legally have to leave when I say. Does anyone know the laws, and please cite some sources so I can check it out myself as well. Thanks!

I had an ear infection recently, the doctor prescribed these ear drops to be used at room temperature, I asked him repeatedly how to do that, and he said, "You'll know when they are at room temperature". I had accidently left them out in the car, where they were almost frozen, so I microwaved them for a minute, drip drip, now I SCALDED my ear drum,

What should I do? ... I can't afford to go to ER to have this taken care of.

I am in pain... who is to blame - the Dr? He did not answer my repeated questions ... Who will pay for this? The pharmacy - instructions how to heat were not clear enough?

My friend did not go to court when he was supposed to. We looked on-line and it says he has a bench warrant and that his bond status is "estreated". What exactly does that mean and what can he do to fix it? It also says CAB AMT/500. What does that mean? I know I just asked this question, but I decided to re-phrase it since the answers weren't helping me. Thanks!

It is midnight in Tokyo. Downtown streets are filled with pedestrians, strollers abound in the park, bicycles sit unchained on the street, many front doors are unlocked, and children under eight years of age are even seen riding alone on the subway. As much of a culture shock as this may be to a visitor from the United States, an additional surprise comes the next morning when virtually no crimes are reported. Tokyo has the lowest rates of murder, rape, robbery, and theft of any major city in the world. A comparison of crime rates in the United States and Japan per 100,000 inhabitants shows that the United States has about six times as many serious crimes. Yet Japan has fewer police officers per capita: 1 for every 557 residents, compared with 1 for every 357 residents in the United States.
Why is there so little crime there?
Do you trust the police in your community as much as the Japanese do their police? Why or why not?

A 19-year-old Saudi woman who was kidnapped, beaten and gang raped by seven men who then took photos of their victim and threatened to kill her, was sentenced under the country's Islamic-based law to 90 lashes for the "crime" of being alone with a man not related to her.

The woman is appealing to Saudi King Abdullah to intervene in the controversial case.

"I ask the king to consider me as one of his own daughters and have mercy on me and set me free from the 90 lashes," the woman said in an emotional interview published Monday in the Saudi Gazette.

"I was shocked at the verdict. I couldn't believe my ears. Ninety lashes! Ninety lashes!" the woman, identified only as "G," told the English-language newspaper.

Five months after the harsh judgment, her sentence has yet to be carried out, "G" said she waits in fear every day for the phone call telling her to submit to authorities to carry out her punishment.

Lashes are usually spread over several days. About 50 lashes are given at a time.

A man is wrongfully charged and convicted of murder. He is given a life sentence. He served 15 years in federal penitentuary. This week, new DNA evidence proves that he had no connection to the murder, but, in fact, the DNA belongs to another man who, not only committed the murder, but committed suicide 2 years ago. There is no way to bring the perpetrator to justice for he is no longer living. What do you feel is the fair thing to do regarding compensation for an individual who has been falsely accused, convicted, and sentenced for a crime that he never committed? Just simply setting him free is not enough. What about his name?, His marriage that failed? His children that grew up without him?, His career?. What are your thoughts?

In the United States abortion is legal. If a pregnant mother is killed the murder can be charged with two murders. This is inconsistant. It should either be legal to kill a fetus or it should be a crime. How can it be both?

I had a series of tests performed, for allergies, and I must say that I'm unhappy with the results. In truth, I doubt the validity in that the results state that I'm allergic to various things which really have no noticable affect on me when I'm around them.

I've already payed some $50 in copayments and appear to have another bill headed my way that's over $300. Fortunately my health insurance picked up most of the tab, otherwise the bill would've been over $1,800.

Do I have any recourse for contesting the bill, outside of court?

Hi. Last month I got a notification that I owed $40 to click2pay for a poker account. I acknowledged that fact and replied to the company asking in which ways I am available to pay. I have multiple E-mails stating this fee, and then just today they E-mailed me another statement(same settlement number) that had the original $40 and then two $50 fees along with surcharges adding up to $200. I called them and they said it just happened to appear today and they don't know why. It was dated for January 3 and 4, and both from a poker site I do not know. They won't reverse it and say I need to file a police report. Should I file it or is there business trying to soak me dry??? I don't get it.

There is a very small chance my account was fradulently being used, but even so, why wouldn't that charge have showed up on any of the previous statements they sent me?

Hello, I'm doing research for a book, in which a woman discovers a baby alive in a dumpster. I'd like to know if anyone can tell me the legal procedures for a case like this, in terms of finding the parent. For example, who takes care of the child in the meantime (Child services, foster home, hospital, what?) and how an investigation to find the mother and/or father would be carried out. In terms of the investigation, I don't need anything too specific, but some knowledge on it is necessary and my sifting through the Internet hasn't turned up much to go on. Thanks!
