I had an ear infection recently, the doctor prescribed these ear drops to be used at room temperature, I asked him repeatedly how to do that, and he said, "You'll know when they are at room temperature". I had accidently left them out in the car, where they were almost frozen, so I microwaved them for a minute, drip drip, now I SCALDED my ear drum,
What should I do? ... I can't afford to go to ER to have this taken care of.
I am in pain... who is to blame - the Dr? He did not answer my repeated questions ... Who will pay for this? The pharmacy - instructions how to heat were not clear enough?

Ummmm, It was an accident, but it was your fault. Accidents do happen. Go to the ER and get your ear checked out. Tell them what happened. No amount of money is worth loosing your hearing (even if it is in one ear). Scalding your ear drum could result in serious injury.
Think of it as a life lesson learnt. And now you know that room temperature is NOT the same as CAR temperature. Swallow your pride and grab your checkbook, and go to the ER!

On bottles of ear/eye drops, it is clearly stated that it should be stored at room temperature between 59-86F. Normally, the bottle is not designed to be microwaved. Room temperature means not hot, not cold.
This accident was entirely your fault, and thus, you'll have to pay for your own medical bills. Personally, I've never heard of someone microwaving their eye/ear drops. I've heard of people taking their suppositories by mouth, not unwrapping the suppository, putting a pill in one's ear because it was for an ear infection, and many other stories.

You COULD have called the pharmacist and asked them.
You COULD have called your doctor and asked them.
You COULD have called the 1-800 number of the drug company and asked them.
My bet is that none of them would have told you to put them in the microwave. Only then would you have any chance of recopuing a cost.
You could have waited an hour or two before using the drops to allow them to get to room temprature.
You COULD have looked up "room temprature" in a dictionary.
What in the world made you think nuking a small bottle of drops for the amount of time it takes to make a full cup of coffee steaming hot would be the equivalent to room temprature!!!
You SHOULD go the doctor now...if you let it go on its own it will get worse and will cost you more in the long run.
You SHOULD get a new prescription for your drops as the microwave has probably ruined them.

You asked this earlier and the answer is still the same. But now that you added room temperature - the fault is even more on yourself because room temperature simply means pick it up off the counter and use it. If they were left in the car - way more your fault. You should have set them on the counter and let them warm to room temperature.
Who will pay - the person responsible - which is you.

You are to blame! You should pay the medical bills!
If you didn't understand the directions you should have asked for a better explination.
I am also very curious as to what the pharmacy said about heating them. What were the EXACT instructions given to you?

You are to blame for your own incompetence. If something says to use at room temperature, why would you leave them outside in freezing temperatures in the first place? And then why would you stick them in the microwave instead of letting them thaw in the house at normal temp? The doctor can only do so much in dispensing adice. At some point, your own common sense has to kick in and choose to listen to it. The doctor is only liable if ghe failed to mention that you need to use it at room temp, which he obviously told you. If you chose to nuke it, it's your own damn fault. Quit trying to make money off your own stupidity
