What does this mean???

My friend did not go to court when he was supposed to. We looked on-line and it says he has a bench warrant and that his bond status is "estreated". What exactly does that mean and what can he do to fix it? It also says CAB AMT/500. What does that mean? I know I just asked this question, but I decided to re-phrase it since the answers weren't helping me. Thanks!

The CAB AMT/500 is probably a cash bond of $500.

The definiton of Estreated is:

Estreat \Es*treat"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Estreated; p. pr. &
vb. n. Estreating.] (Law)
(a) To extract or take out from the records of a court, and
send up to the court of exchequer to be enforced; -- said
of a forfeited recognizance.
(b) To bring in to the exchequer, as a fine.

He will have to go to the Clerk of Courts and face the music. That is the only way to honestly take care of the problem.

Uh oh, your friend is an idiot. He should have gone to court. Now law enforcement is looking for him, which is never good. Have him go to the jail and turn himself in. This looks better and the judge will be more apt to listen to whatever story he has about not coming to court in the first place. Good Luck.

Estreated means that basically your friend forfeited his recognizance (he didn't show up to court when he should have).

If he has a bench warrant out on him, he's going to get caught. He should talk to a criminal attorney to see if turning himself in will reduce his ultimate punishment or what he can do. Hiding will only make it worse.

dont be afraid. go to the police station very early in the morning!, turn himself in. see judge same day. if they find you, it will be at the worst time (night time + no bond = night in jail), they will also look more favorably upon you if you turn yourself in.
