12 years ago my wife began taking care of an elderly woman in her
home,The woman passed on, leaveing my wife, an Inheritance.
The bulk of this womans estate, was an Inheritance, she had recieved from her brother, who passed on before her. Sale of a lake cottage, cash, made up the bulk of it. There where stocks and
bonds also. The lawyer who handled the estates of both the woman and her brother, says he's haveing trouble liquidating the
stocks and bonds that belonged to the brother of the woman.
This is holding up a large sum of money owed my wife as part of
the Inheritance. It has been 1 year and 5 months since the woman
died. Do you think this Lawyer is being honest with us, or not?
What should we do?

I have a certain creditor calling my phone number and looking for a person I have never heard of. I guess it was the person that had this number before me. I have spoken to at least 5 different people from this company and asked them to stop calling me. They call at all hours of the day and night. I'm fed up with this! Any suggestions on how to stop this?

I asked this before, but was not satisified: What is the law that makes the average wage earner living in one of the fifty States liable to pay a federal income tax?

Somebody quoted a section from the revenue code, but it actually had no bearing on my question. I think I've seen some sections there which do make that claim.

I know what a law is. Is an Act of Congress passed on a certain date, signed into law by the President, and given a certain name such as: "The Patriot Act"; "The Davis-Bacon Act", "Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act", etc.

So what date and what name and where is the text of the law discussed and passed by Congress, signed by the President, making a wage-earning American liable to pay a federal income tax?

As a refererence, a jury of our peers did not find it at

This has been in the news about possibly lowering the legal drinking age in the U.S. to 18. I would like to know what others think about this (support or not) and how it compares with your current age if you wouldn't mind giving it (If you aren't comfortable just give a general rage of "under 18", 18-21, 22-30, etc...).

How do I go about getting court transcripts in a court case ?? The reason I am asking is because I found out my ex served time for apparently sleeping one night with a girl that lied about her age, she said she was 18 but she was actually 14.. Then she accused him of rape.. He fought it apparently and lost... We have children together.. And I would really would like to know the whole truth to this story , because I need to protect my children.. Someone had told me that since I have children by him that I have rights to the court transcripts but im not sure, do I? and how do I obtain them?

Basically, if you live in a gated community, and there is a private security force that issues traffic tickets, noise complaints, etc., can they legally break the legal speed limit or drive recklessly to pursue you and give you a ticket?

I left a forwarding address with my last apartment complex and never received a bill regarding "damages" to the apartment. Two weeks ago I received a letter from a collection agency. Does anyone know if and where there is a law regulating the Companies billing responsibilities in Texas?

I mean, I think that they should all be federal cases where if given the death penalty it should be carried out in a year MAX. I also think that sex offenders should go to Federal prison and given implants of tracking devices where the government manages the movement of those offenders. Finally, I think a 3rd offense means life in prison without the possiblity of parole. These jails should be horribly bad and amnesty should be out the window. Drug dealers (not marijuana) should be sent here as well unless it is proven that the drugs being sold were created in the same state as the sale was in. What do you think?

That guy who just got 2 Million from the Canadian Government for being kidnapped by the US from a New York airport and tortured in Syria, what is with this, I thought Syria was part of the Axis of Evil?

Is there some reason the New York district attorney doesn't file charges against these guys. I thought kidnapping was against both state and Federal laws.

she left her house to us. the attorney stated that we had to pay for the nursing home for 3 years (36 months) before we could hand the finiancial situation over to the state. her money is now been used up and we have been paying for her for over a year. Today we find out that the timeline was only 20 months, not 36 that we were responsible for. for us thats roughly close to 85k of our own money that was washed away from our attorneys mis information. is there anything i can do to recoup this money?

I have a chronic diease, and I have to miss work sometime, because of my illness. When I went back to work after being out for 1 week. She removed me from my job, and is making me float to different jobs everyday. She said when I learn to come to work I might get my job back. I went to HR, they ask her about it, and she lied to them. I went to her boss and he defended her. What are my rights and what can I do to protect myself from her harrassment?

He is the situation: last friday my boss called me in to let me know that they were going to have to let me go. I have been with the company (a small 15 person firm) for 1 year now. The reason he gave me was that the company had lost a lot of clients and they could not afford to keep me on. Last year I did make a a few mistakes that cost the company a good chunck of cash, however they did not fire me for that then. Since that incident I have not done anything egregious. Could those mistakes be grounds to deny me unemployment?

I know some one that is being requested by the DMV to appear for a full medical......there seems to be some doubt about the honesty when he filled in the forms and applied for his CDL [b], basically he HAS epilipsey and was driving school buses etc etc, so it does not come as a shock to ANYONE but him, that he got reported.

What I would like to know is JUST what the DMV etc can do to him once they DO find out he has epilepsy? Would it be jail time, felony counts, what?

Thank you.

What can you do if refused an American passport because of lack of documentation (like an amended birth certificate) and cannot obtain substitute information (as shown in the passport requirements?) My age of 65 is the problem. My parents are deceased as well as others who may vouch for me -- no baptismal certificate as an infant -- no Family Bible (burned up), no elementary school records available, etc. The ONLY thing I have is an amended birth certificate with my name change.

Our trailer park manager hasn't deposited our check into the park's account, yet. We gave her the check on 1/27/07, and almost a month later, she hasn't cashed it. I contacted the owner of the park and he said he would talk with the manager about it. How long can I wait until I can claim this month free? What do I even do in a situation like this?

I'm 16 and go to high school in England. I witnessed an assault on a friend a while ago and im due to appear in court soon. The guy who did it has found out the names of the witnesses and he's been asking questions round school trying to find out about me. If we got in a fight I'd stand a good chance of winning one on one but he's always got a gang of cronies with him. He's also the type who finds it fun to carry knifes and he has connections to 18-20 year olds through his brother, who have been known to hunt down anyone that wrongs him. I'm going to do the witness thing anyway but i want to know the best course of action regarding the guy.
If he personally comes up to me and threatens me should i just hit him right then and there and just accept the consequences or should i try and talk my way out of it. I can't afford to waste the time it takes to press charges if anything happens with GCSE's coming up and i don't want to jeopardise my value as a witness.

Whats the way?
