In my opinion, if a young person is old enough to vote and old enough to go serve in our nation's military, they should be old enough to legally drink alcoholic beverages.
That being said, there should be more emphasis on education about alchohol (and not just for young people), and more stringent consequences for drunk drivers, or other lawbreaking where being drunk caused the problems.
I am nearly 44 years old.

I am for it If at 18 you can vote get married and join the military and possibly die fighting a war you should be able to drink legally. age45-50 also where I live the drinking age was 18 until the feds went and threatened to cut highway funds from states that did not raise it to 21 we also used to have 18- 21 laws 18 for beer and 21 for hard liquor

There are always going to be those "rebellious" teenagers who will drink & drive regardless of the law.
In many other countries, the driving age is above 16.
I think the driving age should be raised to 17 and drinking-age 18.
But what's interesting is that in Europe, a lot of young kids drink a little wine with their meal, and they are used to alcohol. They know how to use it moderately. We Americans don't...that's the problem.

Well, I'm 19, so I haven't drank any alcohol, but I know that hasn't stopped any of my friends, so I don't think it would matter, obviously it's not stopping them now, being 18 or under, they've been drinking for years, a law lowering it wouldn't do any good, the ones that want to already do. As for me, I would say no, being that there are already enough people who've died in a car crash due to alcohol, so, no, not the best idea.

It stupid, just plain stupid.. I know how I was at 18, and I can't imagine a world where I could have had legal access to alcohol at that age, at it was I managed to get pregnant and become a single mother at that age, imaging how bad things would be if I were able to drink at that age... the drunk driving accidents alone would be horrible.... no way bad idea. (I'm 32 now.... and do not currently drink, actually never did... just wasn't my thing)

Lowering the legal drinking age is not going to decrease the amount of drinking and driving related accidents, injuries and deaths I think it will raise the number of occurrences.

My relatives is quite conservative, the youngsters drink whine or have a lager at thanksgiving, christmas, easter etc. i replaced into referred to the place alcohol wasn't something specific. the place as a number of my acquaintances, their mothers and dads are enthusiasts approximately how undesirable alcohol is and how there such undesirable youngsters for doing it. those youngsters are those that are smitten by potential of partying and eating. through fact the saying is going "do no longer take the cookie from the cookie jar" the youngsters in simple terms going to have a much better urge to get that cookie.

when i was young that was the drinking age but if you were under age and had the money or you said you were buying it for lets say your dad or grandfather they would sell it to you. i am an alcoholic started when i was 12. in Texas your parents can still give you alcohol or take you drinking with them as long as they are buying.

I'm 45, now.
If it comes to a vote, I will vote against lowering the age.
When I was 18, I still thought 18 was too young to drink.

i think the drinking age should be lowered. people should drink at 15 and drive at 17. so many young people die at a young age due to drinking and driving. Europe's drinking ages are lower and they have half the amount of fatal crashes in the same age group due to drinking and driving.
