He is the situation: last friday my boss called me in to let me know that they were going to have to let me go. I have been with the company (a small 15 person firm) for 1 year now. The reason he gave me was that the company had lost a lot of clients and they could not afford to keep me on. Last year I did make a a few mistakes that cost the company a good chunck of cash, however they did not fire me for that then. Since that incident I have not done anything egregious. Could those mistakes be grounds to deny me unemployment?

Here is a website it have more information about unemployment. http://jobs.utah.gov/ui/jobseeker.asp It also has a list of jobs open on it you can look at it and then try and find a job. You can also go to your local unemployment office. I am sure you can search for you local office online if you do not know where it is. I hope that this information helps you out.

No one on here can actually say yes or no. Only the person making the decision on your claim. But, it sounds like you were laid off and that is the purpose of unemployment benefits.

Nope, if they let you go because of down sizing you are eligible. Those mistakes should have been addressed at the termination and even that would not make you ineligible.

Yes, your job performance has no bearing on whether you qualify for benefits or not. How about the 10 points!?!?!

i'll tell you about being unemployed in utah. it's divine intervention, and it means you gotta get the hell outta utah, while you have the chance.
