How do I go about getting court transcripts in a court case ?? The reason I am asking is because I found out my ex served time for apparently sleeping one night with a girl that lied about her age, she said she was 18 but she was actually 14.. Then she accused him of rape.. He fought it apparently and lost... We have children together.. And I would really would like to know the whole truth to this story , because I need to protect my children.. Someone had told me that since I have children by him that I have rights to the court transcripts but im not sure, do I? and how do I obtain them?

I'm sorry, but do you not already know the whole truth about this?

The father of your children told you, did he not?

If you do not believe him, well, maybe you should leave him.

Go down to the couthouse and pull the file. They will help you research it if you know his last name (which obviously you do). However, different states handle files involving minors differently, as privacy of the victim is a concern, especially with sex crimes. Furthermore, the transcripts are usually only maintained for a period of time, but the file should be intact.

You might have to get an attorney to petition for the transcripts, since the girl was underage. Call the clerk of the court where your ex had his trial and ask if they are available to you. If he/she says the records are sealed, then call the atty.

They are generally not public record. They are available for purchase. Not cheap.
