I'm 16 and go to high school in England. I witnessed an assault on a friend a while ago and im due to appear in court soon. The guy who did it has found out the names of the witnesses and he's been asking questions round school trying to find out about me. If we got in a fight I'd stand a good chance of winning one on one but he's always got a gang of cronies with him. He's also the type who finds it fun to carry knifes and he has connections to 18-20 year olds through his brother, who have been known to hunt down anyone that wrongs him. I'm going to do the witness thing anyway but i want to know the best course of action regarding the guy.
If he personally comes up to me and threatens me should i just hit him right then and there and just accept the consequences or should i try and talk my way out of it. I can't afford to waste the time it takes to press charges if anything happens with GCSE's coming up and i don't want to jeopardise my value as a witness.

Whats the way?

You need to tell your lawyer. You should not do anything illegal to him. Is any action legal under your laws regarding self-defense? You need to find out so you know what you can do without getting yourself in trouble. Threats against witnesses are illegal and if the person confronts you they (in the US) can be charged with assault.

If you are that concerned about GCSE, see if you can just give a deposition in lieu of appearing.

First thing tomorrow call the court or prosecutor that's handling your case and let them know what is going on!

If he is threatening a witness his butt can go to jail for a while until the trial happens.

Also self defense is never a problem, just make sure he makes the first move, not you, and once he's off of you step back. Then you're not in trouble. If you keep going after him when he's down you're committing an assault.

You need to tell the friend's attorney right away. They should have instructed you to go directly to the court should someone tamper with a witness. It is seriously against the law (at least in the states), and that will further help their case. Ask the law office or judge what you should do if approached, but I'd be willing to bet they'd jail him as soon as they hear of this.

a million Corinthians 5:9 tells Christians to no longer even eat with such someone. hence deliberately going to a celebration the position you'd be sharing in party with such someone would not be a judgment of proper and incorrect count number. it isn't a grey section. it really is sweet there in black and white that we shouldn't do this. in the journey that that they had confirmed up and later discovered out that she became there, which will be a grey section to even if or not they ought to depart. planning to succeed in this isn't. It would not sound like the elders on your grandparent's congregation are conserving they're going to remove them from the congregation. they say that in the journey that they are going to blatantly dismiss Biblical route for Christians would advise that they were no longer exemplary, that you want to be with the intention to have privileges interior the congregation. they're going to nevertheless be in a position to remark, take area interior the college, and maximum seriously pontificate. truly, your grandfather would not be in a position to assist with the conferences. BTW, the elders are making your grandparents pick between their loyalty to Jehovah and to you. you're putting them in a tricky subject.

You should go to the police if you are threatened (it doesn't sound like you have been yet). Witness intimidation is a crime.

Right now, talk to your parents about what this person is doing and your fears for your safety. Abide by their decisions on this matter.

You are doing the right thing by testifying. Good for you.

I agree with the above about going to the police and to the prosecutor.

As for defending yourself, you should avoid it if at all possible. Yes, if attacked defend yourself. But, if you can, avoid the situation.

You don't want to punch a guy who is carrying a knife, for obvious reasons. Try to avoid them. Lay low. Run, if it will save you from getting stabbed.

I woould inform the authorities and establish a paper trail first. Then go get a restraining order to keep him away from you, that way if he does approcah you he would be in violation of the order. If he approaches anyways, keep cool, talk you way out if you can, if he attacks defend yourself and then go back to the autorities a file a complaint.

I would let the authorities know what is going on. If there is a confrontation, attempt to talk your way out of it. Be prepared to defend yourself if you have to, but only do it as a last resort when he attacks first. Good Luck.

Theres only one language those type of people understand and that's aggressiveness. Win, lose or draw you protect yourself and fight back by any means necessary.

If i was in your situation i would go get pepper spray or a tazer gun. That will deter them from harming you and give you enough time to get away without causing harm.

Carry a hidden recorder on you so you can back yourself up if it comes to a fight. If you think there's a legitimate reason to worry, report it to the police.
