can a subpoena be served by certified mail or does it have to be signed by the person being served?

hey all...i was workin today and a guy came up wanting to return a broken faceplate..he said they flipped the phone and it broke off when there is a screw that holds it on and it was clearly broken and on top of that the recepit and the sign clearly say no exchanges or returns on faceplates no matter what...then he said a bunch of a racist **** to me so i told him to take his racist *** somewhere else cuz im not gonna tolerate that...i didnt call mall security pr anything i let him off, but he called my coworker to try to dispute but my coworker didnt pick up. did i do the right thing or not, and can i get him in trouble?

One of my dogs is currently at a private vet undergoing surgery for a very nasty cut to one of his hind legs, this cut was caused by walking on broken glass embedded in mud in an area that the Council road sweepers (three of them) recently picked up litter. I'm wondering if I could seek compensation from the Council to cover the vets fees? Nothing else, just the cost of veterinary treatment. The cost is £263 (of which £83 was just for the consultation fee as it was after surgery hours when we went to the vet). Would I be wasting my time to go ahead with trying to get compensation just for the cost of treatment?

Please help me identify the TORTS in this story. [TORTexample: assault, battery...etc.]

What torts are caused by: Carol, Art, Barb and Dave.

During Barb's Backyard BBQ, she grills steaks for her friends in her backyard. The grill SMOKE DRIFTS INTO her neighbor's(Carol) backyard and IRRITATES her eyes and CAUSES her to COUGH. Carol asks Barb to turn off the grill but Barb ignores her and tells her friends CAROL IS A PROSTITUTE.

Art decides to leave around 10pm because DAVE has been drinking too much and seems hostile. Dave lifts a glass and tries to throw it at Art. Ed witnesses this and tackles Dave right after he THROWS the bottle. Art ducked the bottle and the bottle hits BARB in the head.

Dave chases Art into the bathroom(with no windows to escape) and pushes him into the bathroom. Dave wedges a chair under the doorknob to trap him in then leaves the party. Art doesn't exit the bathroom until another person later removes the chair and releases him several minutes later.

An F.O.C. worker said I have been declared the "legal Father"...I know who the real father is..and, after Never being in the boy's life..Now that I've seen Him..I know he's not mine! I've been harassed, jailed, had my life turned upside down, and charged out the yam for a kid that I didn't even biologically father! I KNOW I HAVE RIGHTS! I have a pretty large collection of 'sample' adult materials from the web from the past few years - all top quality stuff (i've weeded out the lame / extreme / fake stuff). I'm wondering, can I LEGALLY sell a compilation of this stuff on Ebay or somewhere else? The host site's address is always featured in the clip (usually in the lower corner), so I'm not pretending these are MY mateirals... just seems like the collecting and weeding out of this material should be worth something. Is this possible and legal?

On my way home coming into a relatively sharp corner in a busy street in Sacramento, is a man holding a large poster board with a bloody mauled naked baby with “ABORTION” written underneath it, upside down. Is it legal to do this? its distracting disgusting, and really not true. The baby appeared to have been a third trimester abortion, which don't happen.

What are the religious beliefs behind this kind of a thing? Is it legal to stand on the side of the road with that kind of a sign? Is it some forum of public nudity or something? I am a strong supporter of our 1st amendment, but this might be a step too far. Other ppls feelings plz.

Sure it's discrimination...but who cares really?

Until a red headed white guy named Jimmy blows himself up in an effort to kill more "white devils"...discrimination or not...tough titty. Okay...so there was Timothy...but odds are Islamofacists are doing the majority of blowing up people.

I had owed some bills and a collection agency came a knocking but I wasnt going to pay them as I did not owe them, aperiod of years went by and then I was given a lawsuit by their attorney,they said they were trying to collect the bill so I talked to the people I owe and paid them, I have receipts for all the bills paid in full and now they sent me this paper saying I am just trying to get out of paying court cost,we didnt even go to court!. I have all the proof I paid these bills, what are they trying to do? why dont they just drop it since the bills have been paid? isnt that what they wanted?

I recently cosigned for a friend. She had no credit, and I had perfect credit.

When my parents found out, they were livid. Apparently they are still responsible for me, because I am not 21 yet? How is this possible? According to every place I have seen (including the NYS website), the age of majority in NY is 18. (I am 19, and will be turning 20 in about a month.

They told me that if they were tied to this loan, the only way to fix it would be for me to emancipate myself. WTF is going on here? If the age of majority is 18 in NY, am I not already "emancipated"?
