One black comedian put it somewhat like this.......
If you are in Arkansas and you see a group of guys beating someone up its most likely to be a bunch of rednecks.
If you are in New York and someone is robbing a store odds are good its a black guy.
If you are in LA and someone is jacking a car it is probably an hispanic.
So since Bubba, Juan and Darnell are not blowing up airplanes he says " you are darn tootin I am going to be looking at the guy named Achmed".
Sure this is all general but if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about. If you care about people one would realize that that extra precaution is what is needed to raise the odds of stopping terrorism. And hey..... they are getting on a plane as well. Think about 911 or the plot the British foiled more recently...... I wonder how many Muslims were on these planes or the ones that would have been. You know if there were that would not have stopped it.
And you know if Muslims want the profiling to go away they could be a bit more vocal against it or the Muslim countries could commit more money, manpower, etc. to stop it. But they won't and as you said...... better to detain an innocent person for a few moments than have one bad guy kill me, my wife, children or other peoples.

I think looking carefully at people coming here from certain areas like countries from the Middle East as well as people acting suspiciously. To simply stop everyone who "looks Middle Eastern" and ignore the blond haired blue eyed all American looking kid across the way who is jumpy and who just came from Saudi Arabia would be the height of foolishness--and frankly, I fear, is exactly what the terrorists are counting on.
I also find it strange that you discount what McVeigh did--before 911, that was the largest number of casualties from a terrorist bombing. I'd sincerely like to know where you got your "odds" that terrorists from the Middle East would be more likely to blow up things here. There hasn't been a terror attack from al Qaeda since 911, but there have been anthrax letters sent and mosques firebombed here in the US, all attributed by the FBI to internal terrorists.

this is the lesser of two evils - this is working achievable assesment on achievable suspects and there is robust reason to profile people who pose achievable to public secure practices, comparable to they do with intercourse offenders. this is unlucky for some Muslims in the event that they discover themselves undertaking to it yet coloration would not come into it - there are white those that have switched over to Islam and that they are going to be profiled too. of direction that's a human rights subject and innocents will experience concentrated yet there could desire to be expertise of the circumstances we live in now. i actually do no longer think of profiling could have lots fulfillment in catching terrorists however the government has to a minimum of seem love that's doing something approximately it.

I wouldn't say it was necessarily discrimination. Even as a person who is self-described as "socially liberal", I still think there is a greater chance of a young muslim male being a suicide bomber than a 4-year-old girl flying home from grandma's house.
But we can't forget that in the Oklahoma City bombing, those two guys were white....

The only way that it is offensive is for people who look Arab - but you can look Arab and be an American from Ohio. But even still, i think it's better to profile than to be afraid of offending people.
