hey all...i was workin today and a guy came up wanting to return a broken faceplate..he said they flipped the phone and it broke off when there is a screw that holds it on and it was clearly broken and on top of that the recepit and the sign clearly say no exchanges or returns on faceplates no matter what...then he said a bunch of a racist **** to me so i told him to take his racist *** somewhere else cuz im not gonna tolerate that...i didnt call mall security pr anything i let him off, but he called my coworker to try to dispute but my coworker didnt pick up. did i do the right thing or not, and can i get him in trouble?

Of course you did the right thing. I wish more people would face racism as directly as that and say "I will not tolerate this."

Unfortunately, if he didn't threaten you or touch you, you can't press charges. Freedom of speach allows him to say whatever he likes, no matter how brainless or hateful.

No you can't get him in trouble. You used foul language yourself. He might be able to get you in trouble. It's a free speech issue....
