Very recently we had an individual crash into our car, totalling it, during the night. They initially left the scene (He was likely drunk at the time) but the police were able to find the person and the vehicle. Now, this person is not responding to his insurance company. He is not answering their calls and he refuses to call them. I am being told that they cannot do anything until he contacts them. This leaves me with no vehicle and no answers. How long can he legally do this? What can I do? I live in Indiana.

Hi, I have a question. My mother was married and had a child (me) with him in 1990-91. He was in a white collar drug dealing business (my mom never knew) and with outstanding cooperating only got 6 years 6 mos in prison.
I was very little at the time and he kept great contact with me with letters, cards, presents, phone calls. Obviously my parents marriage deteriorated and she got the marriage annulled. She remarried a man who eventually became my adopted father.
I'm wondering how this happened and why my biological father has no parental rights to me, since he had posed no threat to me and wanted to be an active father. I know that when I was little, I was very confused about my father and went to child counseling because I was for some reason, scared of him and didn't want to see him. I guess I was confused. So could that have had to do with it or what?
I'm kind of upset over it and would like to find my father when I'm 18. For now, I'd just like this answer. Thank you.

There are many women who are unfit mothers but still get granted custody of their kids plus child support. When the children are better off with their fathers. There are some fathers who work off their tails for their children And the sad part is how friends, family, and the schools see it but the court doesn't.

Nearly 10 years ago I committed a crime of theft. I was arrested, released 2 days later, made every court date, paid back every penny, including fees, fines, ect. Because of the amount, it was originally a felony. In the end it was reduced to a misdemeanor and *DISMISSED*. What does that mean? I know it still shows up on my record, but I've read that it doesn't mean a *conviction*. I've stayed away from certain jobs, and now a nursing program.. but it does list that exponged or dismissed cases won't disqualify...

Regardless of that... what exactly does an dismissed case mean?

How can a judge in NYS dictate to someone that they have to live in a certain county within the state.in order to fulfill a visitation order on their child when she has been bringing the child for all visitation dates..She moved to a different county within the state 8 months ago and has been taking the child for the 3 hour trip every other weekend (as ordered) and doing the return trip to pick the child up. She has since been ORDERED that she has to move back into previous county by Sept.1st..At the court hearing no-one would listen to us as far as anything we were trying to convey to them as far as the childs wellbeing. city vs. country..200 kids in city vs.22 in the country school. All they said was she had to provide access to the child but even IFshe moved next door to "him" he still only has him every other wkend and holiday and 4 weeks in summer. It is just mind boggling to think this can happen in NY. And the cost of moving and new housing is her responsibility.lives on SSDI

Las Vegas criminalized giving food to even a single transient in city parks.

The ACLU sued because it violated constitutional protections of free speech, right to assembly and right to practice one's religion.

Advocates for the homeless feared it wouldn't be long before other cities passed similar laws. As it happens, they were right.
Already, the cities of Dallas, Fort Myers, Fl, Gainesville, Fl, Wilmington, NC, Atlanta&Santa Monica, CA., have laws restricting or outright prohibiting the feeding of the homeless in parks .
After a law that banned panhandling was struck down by the courts, Orlando FL tried to discourage aggressive beggars by obliging them to carry ID cards, and later by confining them to 3-by-15-foot "panhandling zones" painted in blue on sidewalks downtown. Despite these laws, the number of people living on the streets of the Orlando metro area swelled, from roughly 5,000 in 1999 to an estimated 8,500 today, dwarfing the city's shelter capacity.

NYS: I signed my husband's signature on a loan application as a co-signer with his permission. The loan was for school and was for $3000. A few months later we divorced and it has been over a year now. I am taking him to court over custody stuff and now he says that he is going to file fraud charges against me and try to get me thrown in jail for signing his name. Can I really get in trouble for this after all this time and considering we were married at the time?

Recently, I became aware that my employer has been making deductions, in the amount of $225.00 on a weekly basis from my paycheck, along with approx. 12 other co-workers, for our share/payments towards our co. healthplan. This occurred for 8 weeks. We've been notified that our plan has been terminated for lnon-payment, as of Dec. 01. 2006. for myself and others it would cost each of approx. $3400.00 to reinstate this plan, plus an addl. $1700.00 for febuary's premium. Obviously he misappropriated (stole) our funds. Now we're unsure as of yet, if even our taxes, and FICA have been paid, (We don't think so).My dilemma. He owes me alone approx. $8500.00 in unpaid/wprked for salary, plus all that he stole. We still have access to the facility and I'm wondering if it were....wrong?...to take possession of some of his equipment, i.e. computers, tools etc. Nothing with sensitive value, but things with monetary value. WE ARE NEVER going to get the monies due us, as he is going bankrupt.

My husband and I are in the middle of a contested adoption. We have had this little girl from the age of 7mths to (now) age 3. We filed our taxes today and found out that the little girls birth mother who has not even seen her in over a year claimed her as a dependent. I know we have to file something with the IRS but does anyone know if we can push to send her to jail? This is not the first time she has done this. She cleaned this old mans house the year before and found his ss# and claimed him! He did not press charges, he just made her pay him the money. I want to press charges or something! She is contesting the adoption making our life miserable then on top of that claiming MY little girl as a dependent when see has not even laid an eye on her in over a year!!!!! Does anyone know what could happen???Could she go to jail or will she just have to pay a fine?

I have a debate in english on malnutrition in children, but I am still undecided on the subject. So I need some input to make up my mind.

Do you believe that it is the government's duty to help prevent malnutrition in children? For example, free lunches in schools, vaccinations, etc. If so, why?

OR

Do you believe that it is NOT the government's duty to prevent malnutriton? If so, why?

When answering, please keep in mind, all the countries around the world.

PLEASE serious answers only.

Thanks for your help and input.
