The unit secretatry wears a very neat denim skirt and blouse. Organization procedure specifically state that denim is not to be worn to work. How will you handle this.

Well if you are the Charge Nurse and the Unit Secretary answers to you on your particular shift then you need to call her in behind closed doors and point out the organizational procedures. Sometimes a persons dress may be the best that they have so be prepared for this and allow her time to purchase different work clothing. If she does not answer to you then go to her supervisor and ask that they speak with her. If you work at a small facility then perhaps you might want to speak with your superior and make sure that this is an issue you want to persue, as losing a great employee might not be worth a neat denim skirt.

That sounds terribly tacky for a hospital denim? And unprofessional. You should remind her of the procedure. These rules are put into action for a good reason. Not just for the sake of it. You being the charge nurse you need to say something.

You should quit your job. There is no way I would work in an atmoshere that is inane and stupid. Who encourages you to report her? That is like a totalitarian dictatorship encouraging the masses to report each other for every perceived infraction.

I would give her an opportunity to change into correct wardrobe and if she refused, write her up instead of having a verbal counseling session.
What did she do to you? Write you up?

I would let it go. if there is a "catty" thing going on I would mention it to her. If she snubbed me a simple write up would do.
